Good to see you're still doing it right Burkey and not short cutting/forgetting about the details towards the end. Great install example, not long now mate.
Thanks mate. I hope that enough forward planning and research gives me the right outcome. Can only try I suppose

Oil Pump Gears and Crank Sprocket arrived a couple of days ago.
The debate will continue as to who needs them and when.
For me, the idea of skimping and kil.ing the engine for the sake of $400...no deal.
For those who want to see what happens when they give up -

This is probably the scariest part of it for me.
One tooth out on the crank sprocket and your cam timing is about 8 degrees off.
(21 teeth on the crank sprocket, crank rotating at twice the speed of the cams, 360/42 :ninja:)
Check your work, check it again, if not sure, keep checking.

I am sure it will, it did for me!

The wife wasn't too happy with me gapping plugs at the kitchen table but she got over it.

And I’ll just leave this here for people to speculate..
Coke Zero and “special” spirits provided for scale this time :headbang:
I’m not sure that ANYONE has done this one yet. Yes, wank factor is extreme.

Haha....I am ignoring the picture of your gears:barf: Didn't do them yet.

Are you turboing your intercooler pump?

Let’s call it a “switchable sound tube mod”
I heard the videos and want the ability to hear the Whipple whine, but, I’m thinking it’d get old pretty quick.
So, a normally closed, 12v, 1” inlet/outlet, 0 pressure differential solenoid it is.
Not quite sure where I’m going to mount the solenoid or the switch just yet but “hidden” would be good.

It’s mostly about being able to enable the whine at a flick of a switch and capture some epic videos of passengers shitting themselves with the Whipple whine as the soundtrack :headbang:

Also, for those who are interested, the sound tube mod comes in several iterations. The main difference being whether it is plumbed in pre or post MAF.
The post MAF kit uses a diaphragm to prevent unmetered air passing through.
The potential issue I saw with that was diaphragm failure. The MAF sees low air flow, pulls fuel, causes lean condition...Not cool.
Worse than that, what if the diaphragm got sucked into the blower? :eyebulge:
No prizes for guessing which route I’ll be taking.

Each to their own of course.

A question for you Mr SVT...
How many revisions did it take Lund to get your setup dialled in?
Anything you can add to the conversation on that front?

With two weeks to go before install, my cat deletes finally arrived.
These weren’t available at the time of ordering. Pacemaker came to the party, not only building me a set but also creating a new part number.

Off-road use only of course :ninja:

Yes, you could just gut your existing cats but for the $220 it just wasn’t worth my time and I’d like to be able to refit them if ever the need arises.
Having seen the results of cat failures, it’s just not something I want to be a part of.
YMMV

Sorry, just saw this! They send you a baseline with a 5k rev limiter that you log for drive ability. After I loaded the first real tune we were driving the car around like normal. I think I had a total of 4 revisions. Couldn't be happier with Lund or the way the car runs!

Thanks. I have the base file already. Figured I’d load that as soon as I start pulling things apart just to be sure that it’s going to load properly. Issues are rare but they CAN happen. I’d rather find out days before I need it though.

Did you get yours directly from Lund?
Absolutely.
Issues are rare but it only takes the tuner to finger one key by accident and she won’t load etc etc.
Due to time differences, you can lose a day straight up waiting for a work-around if it goes wrong.
I’ve only heard of it happening a couple of times so it’s really just me being overly cautious/unwilling to lose a day waiting for a correction.
