2018 Mustang 5.0L - Dual Fuel Injection - Direct + Port = Confirmed
The new 2018 5.0L V8 engine has been confirmed to have dual fuel injectors, a low-speed port fuel injector plus direct injection.
For those that don't know, without port injection and using direct injection only, the engine loses the ability to keep the Intake Valve's clean, as the PCV system pulls oil and fuel vapors back through the air intake system. With the port injection added, you have fuel being sprayed onto the back-side of the intake valves. The fuel spray cleans and cools the valves, removing the issue that Direct Injection brought to engines.
Carbon build-up in the Intake Port and on the Intake Valve has been a problem for Ford and anyone else that designed their engines with Direct Injection only. Last information was that Ford has no approved procedure to remove the carbon build-up on Direct Injected only engines, thus the need for port injection in combination of Direct Injection.
