I restitched my steering wheel with silver thread and I thought it turned out pretty well. If anyone else wants to do it it's not very hard. You will want to get nylon upholstery thread and use curved needles. I was able to pull up just a bit on the plastic on the back of the spokes of the wheel to tie off the thread. Just be careful not to bend the plastic to much or will be tough to get it back into place.

I'll admit that this was a bit harder to do than on the previous Mustangs because the stitching curves around the backs of the spokes. If your patient it's still not too bad.

Here are some pictures. The thread is silver but looks white in the pictures because of the camera flash.

:hail::clap2:Looks great. I love when people do creative mods that require a bit
of effort and attention. But the reward is grand, everytime you grab the wheel

Thanks!
When searching for silver I saw tons of other colors. On my 05 I used Blue to match sonic blue. I did this on my Dad's red 07. You can find any color.
If anyone wants to do it and has any questions let me know.

Ryan, nice job on the stitching, big improvement

is it possible to replace the leather on the wheel with a different color, or
is that a job for a professional ?

Thanks. I think it would require taking off the wheel to replace the leather. At least I would get a service manual and figure out how to take it off because it would make life a lot easier.

I guess it wouldn't be that bad because once you remove all the factory stitching you could take off the leather and use it as a template for cutting new leather.

If you want a different color it would be a fun project.

Thanks Ryan

I'm going to buy a V6 and not sure yet just how much I want to change the interior
can buy leather seats tho it seems a waste to change the cloth, would like to liten the interior
the steering wheel doesn't look like leather on the 6 and would like a tan color, they can be
changed - for a few hundred dollars so it was a thought if I could do it myself

Although I don't have mine yet, all Mustangs come with a leather wrapped steering wheel. My V6 does as it says so on my window sticker :)

That is an awesome DIY, Ryan. Hat's off to you.
