Good evening guys,

I'm having this problem with my ecoboost 2018

I like to drive with Comfort steering but every time I shut down the car and start it again it goes back to Default or Normal... This is super annoying because I have to switch back to Comfort all the time...

And look what the manual says... defaults to Normal if the battery is disconnected or removed... wth?

Thanks!

Selectable Steering
Note: The steering setting defaults to
Normal if the battery is disconnected or
removed.

E174705
Press the steering button on the
instrument panel to change the
steering feel. The first press
illuminates the selected mode, subsequent
presses change the selected mode.
Modes:
• Normal - Default factory setting.
• Sport - Slightly higher effort required
for steering with more road force felt
through the steering wheel.
• Comfort - Slightly less effort required
for steering with less road force felt
through the steering wheel.

I just got my 2018 GT with active exhaust and it always defaults to normal too. Both the Sport driving mode and Sport exhaust are easily changed with the toggle switch under the display. Small inconvenience to me. It might annoy others.

It's annoying for me :frusty:

My old ecoboost 2015 never went back to Default or Normal when I switched to Comfort... I had to switch back to Normal if I want it...

Thanks for replying!

My 18 GT stays in sport. No need to switch after start up.

Certain modes are linked witha setting. Sportplus with sport steering. If in sport plus you put the steering setting in confort i m quiet sure it will keep this setting untill you disconnect the battery
And for the gt and variable exhaust if you are in normal and put in sport plus the exhaust will be directly in sport

This is the normal behavior and it's lame. I was hoping they would have fixed this in the 2018.

My 2016 has no memory of these settings. Every time I get in, if I am in the mood to drive hard, I double click my sport mode toggle to get into Sport+ and then triple click the steering to get back into normal steering. (I prefer normal steering to the sport mode, but want the throttle response)

Don't think there is much that can be done here I am afraid. The stuff you read in the manual is likely just irrelevant cruft that wormed it's way into the documentation. Perhaps they wanted memory on the modes but weren't able to get that software change made. Just my guess being in software where one department is told something (ie, the documentation group) and plans accordingly... but then when the car ships out it's missing the feature.

I'll have to look at my owners manual gain. I prefer Sport+ and Sport exhaust mode.

I see that you have the A10. I have the 6sp....wonder if that makes a difference.

I was told before that the settings reset because that is what the EPA rated the MPG with so that has to stay the Start-up settings. I asked a similar question about my Q50 and was told the same. I wanted it to start up in Personal mode and was told it was a legal thing.

The settings which reset are drive modes going back to normal and that is for safety, not EPA, reasons.

You got awesome toggle switches and Ford wants to make sure that you use them.

You can set your preferences in MyMode and it will remember them. I have mine set to normal drive mode, comfort steering and Sport exhaust. You can set other combinations and have it remember them.

Odd. My base '15 stays in whatever mode I leave it in. Sport for me, every day.
