I like the Bullitt wheels the 2019 Bullitt Mustang will be sold with , but I will sure see if I can buy or have wheels made to look like the original TorqThrust wheels. I will then switch wheels back and forth to create a different image,

If you get that done, please post photos . Love to see how they look on the new body.

To keep with tradition I would have to swap out to a set of this wheel..in complementing size and offset of course..

Get rid of the ugly ass steering wheel horn button

Replace steering wheel with one similar to the Shelby wheel that McQueen used in the original Bullitt

Make the upholstery pattern similar to the 68 Bullitt

Keep the analog cluster over the digital

Inscribe the (now missing) note that was on McQueen’s Bullitt tachometer between 7k-8k mark that says “little pieces”

To be really nostalgic, create a replica wood grain to go over the current dash appliqués

White Hurst shifter ball

4.10 rear gears (like original)

:)

A lot of folks are wanting to do that, but I just don't see how it would work. One has to remember that the rim needs to clear the brake caliper and the tire has to clear the wheel well through it's entire range of motion with the wheel turned at full-lock in both directions. That requires specific backspacing and offset.

If you look at the 2019 Bullitt wheels there is some room between the caliper and the wheel spoke but nowhere near enough to allow you to remove much of the curve/bow in the spoke. I like the look of a straight spoke and the original wheels, but not sure they could be made to fit with those brakes and tires unless you built up the centre section of the rim to a point where it was way too heavy (not good for handling or ride).

I see what you mean. ..well if Ford could take some of the hub webbing out of it, bring the polished lip in more for depth and get the colors more complementing I'd be for those rims.

The only two problems I see with that are:

  1. their legal department wouldn't likely sign-off on it.
I can't recall which car it was but Ford used to have lug-centric OE rims on one of their cars that were hub-centric. This required them to use a spacer with that rim for that car and they were always an issue. More than one owner had the shop, sometimes a Ford shop sometimes not, forget the spacer and that created interesting unwanted issues.
  2. outer fender clearance for a 255/40/19 at full-lock and full-compression in both directions would likely be an issue
I've used a lot of spacers in the past and own a fender-roller for massaging the fit, but there isn't much room left when you want straight/flat spokes, big brakes and big tires and a low stance. Past a certain point, one of those four has to be sacrificed.

The 1999 Escort ZX2 S/R came with 3MM spacers

I understand, but I'm pretty sure 3mm (0.12"), is way too little to be of any benefit for the Bullitt.

I've had to use 12mm and even 20mm spacers to get specific wheels to fit. However, what you or I might be able to do on our own, is well beyond what a manufacturer can run. Their items have to be able to work for 60,000 miles of neglect and misuse in deep winter, scorching deserts, etc., etc. The reduction in longevity for hub bearings using just a 10mm spacer won't cut it for a manufacturer, but would be fine for us.

I would definitely do those glass louvered quarter windows if they were a reasonable price.
