To black roof or not to black roof!

Hey all,

Title pretty much sums up the situation... Seems all the craze lately for people to get black roofs... I think on certain cars and color combos it can look very nice, but I'm not sold it matches Mustangs.

I've got a 2018 GT on order in Lightning Blue without the black roof. I plan on getting replacement black emblems for the front/rear and sides regardless and I will have the black rims, but I'm wondering if I should have gotten the roof black too.

Difficult to know if it will look good or not on this particular color as I'm in Europe and there are very few Mustangs anyway and certainly no 2018s yet. I did however watch this video and thought it looked quite nice:

Black roofs have more of a contrast impact on lighter colored cars. That said, I’ve seen a Magnetic GT and I think it looked good. Tinted windows also make a difference with black roofs. Why not get it wrapped? If you don’t like it, take it off.

With black emblems and wheels...hell yeah, have that black roof (mine is).

Depending on how much you're willing to spend, you can have it painted from factory, from a local shop, or wrapped. If mine wasn't already done from factory, I would have it wrapped.

im getting my roof wrapped gloss black this summer. and i have lighning blue .. it needs it to break up all the blue imo

I vinyl wrapped mine in the CF look. I think it works great with the magnetic.

Getting my Lightning Blue wrapped this spring along with black emblems and already have black wheels.

I am thinking on wrapping my ruby red's roof black. Got quoted $300 is that fair?

I definitely wouldn't pay that much, especially in the midwest. With the general premium on costs down here, I've been quoted from $150-$175 by a few shops. $300 sounds crazy in comparison to that.

I thought so too. I am wondering if anyone makes like a pre-cut decal I can buy and install myself.

My race red came with the painted black roof and I absolutely love it. Looks killer.

Looks great but in Arizona your headliner would catch fire the first day over 125 degrees (Fahrenheit) if you left your windows up. ;)

Factory black painted roof on LB. I like how it breaks up the blue, plus works well with other black accents.

I'm going to attempt to do it myself in a week or so. Here's what I got from Amazon:

The roof is roughly 48x48 inches and you'll need a little extra to work with on each side.
I was quoted for roof and side mirrors from $180 to $550. Doing the roof myself (if successful) will cost me a little over $50.
