It won't be long before I am ready for some new rear tires and I'm tired of searching and researching. ;)

I'm pretty set on Michelin PSS but am certainly open to other recommendations; particularly less expensive ones!

Criteria:

1. It's Florida - it rains a lot and I'd prefer to maintain contact with the road. ;)
2. Track - I'm guessing I'll be at the track at least 2 or 3 times a month
3. Tread wear
4. Did I mention rain?
5. Profile - I really don't want to go lower than a 35 profile unless there is a real compelling case.

Wheels are 19x10

Thanks!

I'm a huge fan of the PSS. It's a fantastic tire in all respects.

I had them on my last car and loved them. They are just expensive as can be...

That they are, but they're well worth it, in my opinion. :)

You are just replacing your rear tires? You should really change all 4.

Why? It's a staggered setup, the rears are ALWAYS going to wear out long before the front.

I think I'll try the Nitto NT05 305/35/19.

I think I wrongly assumed that "Track" = road course and not dragstrip. I'm not used to the word track meaning dragstrip after owning an FRS and Miata.

I suppose there is no harm having different rears on the street and strip. Generally on a road course you want the same tires front and back.

While I might do one or two road course runs a year, I'll hit the strip a lot more often, so I'm not nearly as worried about different front/rear setup.

I doubt that the NT05 comes anywhere near to having the wet weather capability of the PSS. The last thing you want in the wet is skittish rear tires. Drifting is a dry weather sport for good reason.

OP - I know this isn't your preferred kind of track, but it should illustrate wet street behavior well enough (and I sort of doubt that the dragstrip continues to send cars off in rain like what's in this video).

With nearly 30 years of driving in the southeast, I know hydroplaning. ;)

If you're hitting the track 2-3 times per month, I would buy dedicated wheels/tires for that purpose. I recommend a square setup, too. Nitto NT-01's are an excellent option if you don't want to spring for full racing slicks.

Great choice. You'll love the PSS. I had them on my last car and they were amazing
