Seems the only gas station is shell with 91 V-power. Problem is, I have a custom 93 tune w/ JLT cai ( forgot that fact when I set out  ). Can I just load up the canned 91 tune? Will it overwrite? Or do I need to erase the custom tune first? Thanks!

Wont the knock sensors detune until you can get the correct fuel?

My route only consists of 91 gas stations.. 94 is 350 miles behind me. Plus anything other then feathering the peddle knock retard goes nuts.

Maybe they have some octane booster inside to help?

You should be fine just cruising. Just stay off the happy pedal and watch your knock. If you get a bunch of knock find some octane booster.

So the 5.0 coyote wont retard timing if it senses knock?.. or does the tune interfere with knock sensor function? ..or is my thinking stuck in the 1990's lol..

It will retard timing if it senses knock but it's still best to avoid it as it can still cause damage over time.

Luckily I had the stock tune on my handheld. Restored it, installed the canned 91.. and gained back 6 mpg.

You were just fine on 91. It was probably adding timing when you were seeing the "knock retard go nuts". There's knock sensors for a reason.

I have a 93 tune as well. I'm sure a partial tank of 91 won't hurt anything if you aren't pushing it but that's why I keep some octane booster in the trunk.

I've ran 91 and 92 with my 93 tune and did not have a single issue. If your 93 tune is going ape shit with 91, I'm a little concerned about if you're actually getting 91.
