Live in Australia and the 2017 is in stock and massively discounted at $56k drive away for a GT Auto Coupe. The 2018 comes out in 3 months and for the same car is $72k drive away.

So the question is, is the 2018 worth the premium and the wait?

For those who have had both how different do they feel?

If you're going to go boosted at some point save the money and get the 17. If you're gonna stay NA, start off with the best platform. You get more power and performance for less mods with the 18. Especially the 10spd. I switched from a 15 PP to a base 18 10spd for that reason.

The 18 auto is @ 11.998 in the 1/4, I still am keeping my 16 and building it N/A. I am at 450 Hp crank without a "tune". See sig for bolt ons. My 16 was $30,000 OTD

I would say whichever style you like go for it but with the inflated prices where you live id go 17. I got my 16 gtpp for 29k new.

Keep in mind that the Euro & Au 2015-2017 Mustang GT is not as fast as the NA version. It has a reduction of 25hp and 9lb/feet torque. I have no idea if the 2018 has any reduction in the Euro/Au version. The Euro/Au A6 transmission, to my knowledge, is also incredibly sloppy compared to the NA A6.

EDIT: The Eu/Au 2018 GT makes 450hp and 410lb/feet torque compared to 460/420 for NA. The 2015-2017 was only making 410/390 for the 2015-2017 Eu/Au models.

That's quite a big difference in prices. To me the only reason to look at the '18 is the 10 speed transmission if you're wanting an auto. The difference in HP may mean more to some, but to be able to use all of the HP in the '17 is hard to do in urban areas. There are some minor tweaks in other areas of the '18 also, and of course the front fascia is different. But, in your case you have to decided if these differences are worth the 18k increase in price. Good luck on that decision.

Disclaimer: If it were me I would wait on the '18. But, I'm filthy rich. (I wish)

I can say my 17 GT350 was fun. My 18 base GT auto is fun. Off of the line, not seeing much difference between to two. The 18 is actually a bit more fun because no shifting. Just mash and drift or whatever you want to do. Once rolling, the Shelby is faster but the A10 is not far behind. Miss a shift, and off goes the auto.

Handling was no comparison. Shelby hands down a totally different car. Now that I have bigger tires and have lowered the car, with new shocks and struts, the gap on handling has been reduced dramatically. Braking is another advantage for the Shelby but that is also under works for the auto.

I was never going to mod the Shelby. The auto on the other hand is no holds bar. Once I get a tune done and eventually a ProCharger, the auto will be a faster more fun as a result car.

Overall, the only thing I miss about the 17 GT350 is the constant looks, thumbs up, and the Voodoo sound. I do not miss rolling the gears.

Interior, same so no changes there.

I know it's not a 17 GT to 18 GT comparison but it is all I got. I did it mainly for the auto10 and the to mod a $30K car vs not mod a $60K car.

All this talk about the 10 speed and no one mentions the engine enhancements? That’s worth it to me to get the 18 over the previous year.

Simple. If you have the money, get the better car.

No, the 2018 is not worth the price increase.

I just don't get it. The 2018 Mustang GT is still an S550, plain and simple. Yes, it has been upgraded, but the price increase over a 2017 model is just not worth the added expense.

Buy a left-over 2017 GT. Add a good CAI, a tune, and cat deletes; plus some Steeda or BMR suspension goodies, have the same or equal performance as a new 2018 GT and you will still have saved yourself thousands and thousands of dollars.

Again, I just don't get the swooning and fawning over the 2018 GT? Yes, it is definitely an improvement over the 2015-2017 GT, but not a $20,000 improvement. Not even close!

Better yet, find yourself a low-mileage, clean 2016 GT from a mature private seller and you will have bought yourself a car at effectively half-price of a new 2018 GT.

The A10 is a much better transmission than the A6, the engine is better as well. to me the 15-17 front ends look bulbous whereas the 18 is a little more streamlined. don't forget the 18 has LED headlights as well
