I will be able to pick up my license plates next week. This may be a stupid question, but...the car did not come with any kind of license plate mounting hardware for the rear. There is a bracket for the front plate, but nothing whatsoever for the rear. Am I supposed to just go out and buy screws myself or was this omitted when I picked up the car? Every other new car I've ever bought came with some kind of mounting hardware already.

Mine came with a temp plate mounted with factory screws. When my permanent tag came in I had a Ford Racing bracket complete with screws to mount. Get a bracket you like and problem solved. There is a thread on plate brackets.

The screws are not in place in the rear holes?

Factory screws were in the trunk when I picked up mine.

Do yourself a favor. Spend a few bucks on stainless hardware. Who needs rusty bolts and a tail of rust on your plates?

The screws are inside the bag that has your front plate bracket. You'll use them to tap the mount holes on the rear bumper.

Surprised your dealer didn't put the screws in as part of the delivery process...if nothing else, for shameless self advertising by way of a fake dealer license plate or a dealer plate frame ;)

P.S. in some states (like Texas), the temporary plate (cardboard) you get when you purchase the vehicle is required to be mounted in the rear license plate position.

When I got my Gt the dealer added the temp tag to their dealer name plate frame and mounted it rear. So when it came time for my permanent tag I noticed that they stripped a screw hole. Does anyone know if those are plate mounting inserts in rear bumper or did ford just have the screw self tap the bumper?
