H-Pipe Install Gone Wrong

I made a rookie mistake when installing my new h-pipe. I measured the H-Pipe against the stock resonator and then read the instructions and cut off too much so there was about a 2 inch gap from mid pipe to the tail pipe section. :headbonk::frusty::doh: I had to get on the road pretty quick so I basically did a redneck fix and just clamped two ends of a cheap resonator tube from Autozone into the two sides to get by but it sounds like it has a massive exhaust leak. What's the best way to get this fixed? Have an exhaust shop weld in an extension and then weld in the H-Pipe in the rear?

Yeah, I think an exhaust shop is your best route. Either way, make sure they alter the h-pipe and not the car's exhaust pipe in case you want to put the stock res back on with a couple of simple band clamps like these: https://www.amazon.ca/SmartParts-12...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=5VPQR98Z9Z45X6Z3YZ9A

That was the price of the labor or with an x-pipe? That'd be one hell of a deal for both.

I had thought about just buying an x pipe and seeing if I like the sound better. Though I may like the H-Pipe with the Roush Axle Back if the sound improves IF there is a leak. If there isn't a leak and it just sounds the way it sounds I will have to figure out something else to do with my exhaust. The car sounds almost like a Harley at low RPMs and then doesn't gain that Roush sound back until you get up to 4000 rpm or better.

You misspelled duct tape

An exhaust shop can take a section of pipe and expand it slightly so it overlaps then weld it.

Just install some electric cut-outs to take up the space

Check Craigs List for a cheap take off and start over? Remember, measure twice, cut once.

Edit: I know where there's a free one in Columbia.

I would get on ebay or Jegs and check out some of the stainless steel short pipe clamps. I've used them before and they were very good.

Drive down to Tampa and you can have my entire exhaust system from the cats back.
Hell, I think I have 2 of them here in the hangar.

That's the price with labor if you go with a universal X-Pipe.
