I wonder if throwing DI heads on a gen 2 would help anything. I mean obviously it would need the matching pistons but having the best of both worlds is definitely intriguing.
Different bore sizes.

No, just a regular forum member. and I have both a 16 and an 18.

I just found it to be humerus that there were so many posts in this thread complaining that it did not have an optimized set up for mega forced induction, unobtainium rods, billet everything, or other deficiencies.

On the subject of oil pump gears, I would bet that less that 1/100 of a percent of V8 GT's have had oil pump gear failures. I probably would not have upgraded them based on reported failures if I were Ford.

People finding fault with the DI fuel pump drive, spray bore cylinders, etc. Ford must be getting rich off of all the money they saved giving us this improved version of the Coyote.

Agree 100%. Ford was able to go through the hard times and come out on top without bankruptcy or Obama money. They are heroes in my book. Not to mention the fact that they keep coming out with wildly innovative stuff to please us enthusiasts.

Once I am finished with my 2016, and I see nothing from Ford that is a huge jump, I will either stick with it longer, or shop at Dodge.

0.8mm difference, hardly enough to make a difference when it comes to cylinder heads.

Compare that to the Voodoo or CJ 5.2l blocks which are 1.8mm larger(92.2 vs 93 vs 94).

Yeah, I saw in your sig that you had both, that's why I figured it was a troll post making fun of the people calling the plasma arc lining "weak". Hell, the GT350 has been handling upward of 1000 on stock bores, and that has even thinner walls than the 5.0.

To be fair, they DID take a ($300 million?) grant from the government during the recession to "invest in lightweighting and other fuel economy boosting methods"

It's still not a guarantee that the valves will fit in the old bore size, regardless of how small of an increment it is.


AFAIK the GT350 heads fit on the Coyote. More than one person has put larger valves in their stock Coyote heads.

Yes ,the Voodoo heads fit the coyote ...but with some shrouding of the valves.

Just imagine a 4.5 liter twin turbo in the mustang, or even the SHO engine with a bit more tune.
