I wish the GT350 had MINIMUM of 600 horsepower. Too much power is subjective. Ask a fart sniffing Prius owner what too much horsepower is (note, I said fart sniffing, not a practical reasonable person owner who got it because fuel economy/practicality )

Demon does it in 2.3 without rollout.
GT500 will do it in less than 3... just my guesstimation.

RWD can be better than AWD for launches. Much better, especially when car is set up to transfer all of it's weight to the rear tyres. Like all drag cars do.

As for too much power its become a pissing contest.
Dodge needed to get such power because they knew they couldn't compete past the first corner due to old, heavy design. So they've claimed the straight line mantle.

Some people can't handle 400hp let alone 700hp. The question then becomes does Ford have a duty of care to ensure prospective owners are fully aware of what this car is capable of? I mean, you've all seen the crowd videos.
Demon has slicks, and that time is only on a prepped surface.

Anyway moot, the 500 will struggle. I hope it can do a 2.9 would be awesome.

NT05R are drag radials not slicks. They're a terrible street tire, but a slick they are not. Ford isn't going to do anything like that (the 500 isn't a drag focused car).

True. I use layman terms a lot when talking cars.

People on this board are much more informed, 99% of people have no clue what the difference is between a drag radial and a slick tire.

It depends how the power is delivered and supporting mods to create a balanced car that can put it down really. My 1st gear will spin and sometimes 2nd if I hit is hard but if I'm already rolling it grips fine with 305s and proper alignment. I made 900 but it's very linear still with cams and procharger setup.

The vehicles I road race (closed circuit track) run 9's@145+ and close to 200mph top speed on street tires right off the showroom floor. Of course I'm talking Superbikes but if they aren't too much for the street...

All the same factors apply and more so since only 2 wheels...traction, keeping the front down, putting it down out of a corner, etc. And to think anyone with $12-$15K can be riding one tomorrow.

I can put down my 800rwhp pretty good on some 17x10's with a solid drag radial on them. but if your running a 20x10 or whatever it goings to be hard to put 600+ down. a good launch control and traction control system will go a long way

I make 900ish and can put it all down on a MT ET Street drag radial in 325/35 18. When not on those I'm on an NT05 in 335/30 19 and do really well once they are warm. And by really well I mean I can do a full pull in 3rd at a slightly lower power level. (800ish)

For a Daily Driver, you can definitely have "too much HP".

I have a C7 Z06 (650HP/650TQ) and it's too much for this current model Vette. At 110+ MPH I can spin these tires at will.

You have to be very careful when you go full pedal, you can lose it real fast.

My son wants to add HP mods to my Z06. I keep telling him the car can't handle 650HP, why would I want more?

My brother has a Grand Sport Corvette with standard LT1 455 HP engine with a manual. His car is way more fun to drive than my 650HP. You can actually row thru the gears and make use of the powerband.

I have another brother who has a Porsche AWD Carrera 4S with 450HP. You could easily add 200+ HP to that car and still be driveable.

I've driven a Honda S2000 with 240HP and that car was a blast to drive, also a slow ass Miata.

My Vette hits the Legal speed limit in 1st gear, WTF?

I see a common complaint about the Shelby GT350. 1st gear goes to 60MPH and you have to be above 4,000 RPM to have TQ and some real fun. So much for having 526 HP, lol.

The GT350 is definitely set up for the road course. I was at the track last Monday and there was a C7 Z06 'vette there. The guy driving it was really nice. He apologized for not getting out of my way more quickly. Now he wasn't on the correct line, but I was surprised the Z06 didn't really pull on the GT350 on the straights either.
