I'd shy away from putting that aluminum housing on a manual car, even for the weight savings. Even if you don't drag race, driveline shock is a thing when shifting hard, as is cyclic fatigue.
Yeah for sure. One of the issues with aluminum rods.

There is no denying that. I'll do some digging, and see if I can find the official reason, an potential concerns.

It may never make it in the car as I might be offloading the 15 to get Diesel F150 and my 68 back. We'll see.

It will likely will still be fine. I ran twice the power/torque through a aluminum Cobra IRS in my turbo notch with MM grip package, and full tilt diff bushings.

That IRS is still living on in another car.

Well it's not entirely that it's aluminum, but more the huge lever arm to those mounting ears.

I like to disassemble things.
And the ear design on the S550 aluminum carrier has proven to be less than robust when the differential housing wants to wind/unwind under "drag style" launches. I would shy away from using one on anything more than an Ecoboost 4cyl engine.

I'm note sure about that. I've seen 800hp+ street driven Supras put tens of thousands of miles on aluminum rods and a bunch of passes at the strip with no issues.

I agree and wouldn't put the auto's aluminum diff on a manual, let alone a high powered drag car. That's actually weight where you want it. Low and at the rear of the car.

I've started to think more on the power lately after looking @ the Super Snake power. If the SS gets 750 on a 5.0 SC, why not 775 plus on a 5.2?

Good grief, only 120 people have voted on this poll. If only 120 people are interested in the GT500 , I may have better luck finding a GT500 than a GT350R.
