I'm at 20,000 miles and had the last service at 10,000 so I m due but oil life is at 46%. I assume I should take it in or wait till the oil life says to?

Take it in. I would not be going above 10K or one year, especially on a synthetic blend. I'd also look into a better oil (if you are using the MC synthetic blend) and/or shorter intervals unless you drive like an old woman.

You've done 10000 miles but your oil meter is telling you at 46%? I thought the meter just counts down either 12 months or 10000 miles whichever comes first.
Since I never do 10000 miles in the Mustang I just change it once a year.

Aperantly not. I m 10000 miles and 11 months into this oil. I know some newer technology cars have sensors that measure oil quality. Maybe viscosity. Not sure but mileage or months don't seem to fit.

I did change my oil today. I d rather play it safe.

if you want to know for sure send an oil sample to blackstone labs and do a TBN test

The oil life monitor looks at mileage, time, number of start cycles, how long at operating temp and likely other things.

I have almost 30k miles on my car and the oil life monitor has been telling me to change the oil around 7.5k miles.

To the OP the manual says 10k, 1 year or the oil life monitor which ever comes first.

That's not right, 11 months and 10000 miles should say close to 0%. Did you reset the oil life monitor halfway?
Mine is at 3000 miles but 8 months and its telling me 35%.

I wouldn't trust the 46% . Take it in now. And get future oil changes done at 5000-7500 miles. Probably 5000 miles for FI engines and NA engines driven in a "spirited" manner. Or one year. Whichever comes first.
