test drove a GT PP today but car was in Transport Mode, no POWER

The car is taken out of transport mode during the PDI, you alternate the brake and flashers 5 times to take it out of this mode or drive for more than 50 miles and once it's out I don't believe there is any way to get "transport mode" back ever again.

What's the "PDI"?
