Nice setup! Looking at the install progress, I'm glad I graduated to home audio! I don't miss having to run all those wires etc...

Thanks! Yeah, home audio is so much easier. I probably set up my entire home system in an hour

Not for me. We are doing a theater room when our house is built. I am going 11.2 (Klipsch) so it will be a shit ton of wiring as well.

I am doing low voltage throughout the house as well (CAT6 etc.) but using Sonos for every individual room.

Very nice.

I just have a 4 channel home system. Polk RTi A7's and A3's on a Pioneer Elite. My wiring is just ran along the base of the walls, messy and exposed lol, took me a few minutes to run. I did buy white cable though so it's not as noticeable. Meanwhile if my car has a wire out of place or showing I lose my mind. :headbonk:

Mine took quite a bit longer than an hour (took that long to un-crate the center channel) but yeah it's definitely simpler...

I installed car audio many years ago, and when I look at some of the stuff you have to deal with now, I'm glad I got out of the game...

Yeah, I hear you. For me I barely get to use my home system, so as much as I love bass I don't even have a subwoofer on it anymore.

Did you replace the factory 6.5" grilles because you wanted to or because the Hertz wouldn't fit behind the stock grilles?

I was wondering the same thing. My Morels fit well inside the factory location.
Glad to hear. I was going to ask you about them as well. Now I know.

I was wondering the same thing. My Morels fit well inside the factory location.
The Hertz wouldn't fit by themselves in the door panels, the hole was too large. So I had to cut and dismantle the factory speaker mount and secure the Hertz speaker to that.

Because of that, it did fit, but the speakers would hit the door panels when the volume was turned up and they started moving, even when I cut most of the bass going to them.

I probably could have solved it by making my own mounting rings but I just didn't want to go through that. So instead I cut the door panels and attached the Hertz grille to them. Unfortunetly for me, Ford did not put the speaker grille where the actual speaker is, it's slightly off center. So the grilles had to be surface mounted to the door panel rather than screwed to the speaker like usually done. It doesn't look horrible, but I'm not thrilled with the end result. Definitely the weakest cosmetic link of the install.

Also, figured I'd post the final pics here with my Methanol tank mounted. To explain what that space on the back of the box was for.

I used plastic spacers that came with the JBL's I had in there before.
Woofer mounted (Custom).jpg

The screw pattern for the hertz just makes the opening. You have to get it centered perfect for all 4 screws to bite.I did wrap the outside of the woofer with 3/4" foam to seal it to the door card for no rattles.
Yes it is not on center.
