We've just got another look at the 2020 GT500 Mustang and this time we've captured what appear to be two different versions, one which sports an aggressive hood (and almost certainly will feature the large rear wing shown in Ford's teaser video) which we believe will be an even more track-focused variant perhaps bearing the GT500R or GT500KR moniker -- and another version which will be the standard base GT500 package.

Our photographer also caught a quick drive-by video of the standard non-track oriented packaged GT500 Mustang. Although the driver did not open up throttle enough to detect the supercharger whine, we've heard enough GT350 flat plane 5.2L Voodoo engines to know this one was distinct and our ears hear a cross plane V8 (5.2L Predator) engine.

We also caught interior photos of that same prototype which seem to confirm that a manual transmission option will be offered on the next GT500, at least in the standard version.

It should be noted the version we believe to be the GT500R/KR was doing everything possible to avoid being captured on film and our photographer reported to us the quick shifts sounded like a dual-clutch transmission "almost exactly like a Porsche with PDK."

Wait... so, is that a GT500 with a manual transmission? Does that mean that it will be available with both Manual and DCT? That's cool!

And, where are the pictures of the “track focused”?

Looks like it to me. I'm very excited about the cars arrival but am not impressed so far with what I am seeing and hearing. Need more...

Thanks Jarstang

The one in the video......seems to retain the '15-17 tail lights.....and you can clearly see a GT350-a-like vent behind the front wheel

:)

Guys... I'm pretty sure this is the GT350 not the GT500 (At least the one in the video). Maybe the "track focused" that Jarstangs says is the GT500 and that's why they avoided to have it being caught in camera.

The one in the video even has the GT350 hood. So, '15-17 tail lights, vents behind front wheels and the GT350 hood. Looks like a GT350 to me.

So, apparently both GT500 and GT350 will use the same front end but the GT350 will retain the same rear end... uhmmm, interesting.

The pictures from the interior are from the one in the video or the one in the pictures?

It's either:

1. The rev match switch like the Camaros

2. Or they are sharing pre-production wheels with the DCT version
It makes sense...
