I've had my GT for six months now and racked up 7,200km.

This morning when starting the car I get a screen message saying "Oil Change is nearly due" with a spanner and Oil can logo. Aussie mustangs had a 15,000 km service interval I thought but it seems the car electronics are reverting to oil change every 7500km. Anyone else seen this?

Mine came on at 3500km and the oil had been changed at 1500km six months ago.

Went to dealership and service manager quickly scrolled through menu in centre dash and re-set oil monitor.

Have a look through the menu there and you should be able to re-set it yourself if you feel it has come on prematurely.

Exactly the same with mine... Six months and 7200 Klm. Happened a few weeks ago. I rang 2 dealers but neither had heard about this occurring before on the Mustang, I assume because not many Australian cars have racked up that many Klms.

It was booked in to get the puddle lamp replaced, so I got the oil changed at the same time. That was more convenient for me then a DIY. After the run in period I was more then happy to give it some fresh oil.

I got the warning yesterday at just over 3400km.

Not planning on changing it anytime soon.

mine came up at 6 months and 8,000km - I changed the oil. The oil life monitor now says it's down to 96% life after less than a week.

Mine came on at 6000 klm. Called the dealer who basically said bring it in and we'll reset it but no need to change the oil. Thought about the fact the oil has been in there 11 months. So I took it to my old school mechanic and got the oil changed there. He said the oil looked a little ugly. Small cost for a big peace of mind.

My dealer changed the oil on my car at 6 months and 5,000km when the 'change oil' message came on.
By that point catch can was collecting some dirty and dark oil.

Fairly quick and inexpensive oil change at the dealer service centre.
Checked the oil catch can about a month or so later, and it is now capturing much cleaner and clearer oil.

yes, my oil I dumped was pretty black (not that it takes engine oil to look black after a change). I suspect this Intelligent Oil Life Monitor is something that some of the dealers haven't adjusted to yet.

I got mine changed at the 3000kms inspection, for peace of mind.
They reset the counter at that point, so I'll see how it goes from there.

But, why wouldn't you believe it, or at least give it the benefit of the doubt?
I'd make sure the "counter" gets reset when you get an oil change done, and then believe it.

Bump.

I also got this warning at 6300kms called Ford who said just reset it.
So now I'm tempted to change the oil myself as it seems Ford don't want me to come in till 15k service is due.

So will do some research in terms of what oil would be best etc as I have a long trip planned for end of year Canberra to Brisbane and back.

Anyone got advise on oil, Filter etc ??

Got my mechanic to order a Ford filter and checked with Ford to get the correct spec for the oil and put in Liqui Moly (some special hi tech version suited to the engine) and good as gold ever since. Oil that came out was pretty dirty at 6800k,s.
