So I had through an email today offering the 7 day drive away insurance on my 2018. Did the quote online and was declined for it (Who knows why?). However, they were kind enough to quote me a years cover at £3546 which I think is a little steep.

My own insurance company LV have already agreed to a price of £330 back at the end of January. I can't see it going up over 3 grand in a month.

Anyone else had any problems with Ford insure?

They wouldn’t insure me either mate! I asked them why and they said it’s because I’m a shop manager!?

Very strange. I didn't even bother ringing them to find out. Haven't been declined for anything since my early 20s so just wanted to see how others got on.

You don't need a quote for the 7 day cover though do you? I thought you just got that when you bought the car?

No. They ask you to fill out details online following the dealer filling in certain details for you. Not too bothered now but was pissed off at the time.
Will have my own insurance organised anyway

I did a quote at the time as well, just for a laugh. Was equally ridiculous.

Few thousand from what i remember

They only ask you to fill out the online quote so they can then chuck a price at you for the period after it expires... it's just a lame marketing exercise to basically to get your details and attempt to sell you an ongoing policy, although why they bother with the prices they quote is beyond me for sure  !

I got declined by Adrian Flux, who are supposed to specialise in cars like the Mustang, despite having full no claims bonus, no convictions/points and having been driving for 35 years, just because my father had a minor fender bender (3 years previous) when he reversed one of my cars into someone else's rear door in Waitrose's car park (£680 total claim value)... so I told them it would be the last time I would ever bother to get a quote of them and just stuck with Aviva... £400 with a list of mods as long as my arm and £0 excess  !

The act of being declined does somewhat get the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up though, I will admit  !

Shop around and you'll generally always find the right, or at least a more realistic, price!

I found it pretty hard getting a good price for insurance on the stang even though I’ve been driving 10 years with no claims or convictions. Had to change to esure as Hastings who I was previously with wouldn’t insure me. I found prices changed drastically from insurer to insurer.

This sums up insurance. I asked Aviva to cover a spoiler but they said they wouldn't because they don't cover any more than six mods. I pointed out they were already covering more than six to which they replied that they would continue to cover what I had but I wasn't getting any more. So went to A-Plan...

I used to work in the insurance industry, nearly put me in an early grave through stress! I used to be able to explain to people most things insurance companies do but I struggle more and more.

Fords quote was a joke but I git the mustang insured with our business cover. We insure about 25 vehicles, vans and cars from 19 - 77 year olds (my Dad) and have 4 series BMWs, Mercs and all sorts. They insured the Mustang no problem at all.

So, for a year or so, they were quote happy to insure me...and anyone else over 30 in the company to drive my 5.0l V8.

Then, I lowered it. Suddenly, it is un-insurable.....even just for me, straight forward refusal! Even threatening to cancel out £12500 per year policy made no difference. So I had to go elsewhere and take my car off the fleet! Just because I lowered it!

Yeah when i got my car my years cover from ford insure was 15k. Trust me, ignore it, they overprice the fuck out of it, Ford will insure you for 7 days (Sometimes it's after registry, others on pickup day), then buy proper insurance from a different insurer.
