Everyone:

I am so used to fixed outside mirrors on my various Fords that I just assumed the Mustang was the same way. Never even tried to move them.

Then...I bumped into one in the garage...and it moved!! This is great!!

then I researched...and found out the Euro-spec Mustangs have electric folding mirrors.

Was this an option on our Mustangs? I have a premium package and only have manual folding ones?

Thanks

I don't think US gets electric folding mirrors.

Euro-spec or Japanese spec?

I think in Japan, one has to pay a parking tax that's based on your vehicle's overall width. So, if your mirrors automatically tuck themselves in, you save a few bucks (yen?) in taxes.

They don't fold forward though. $350 for a new mirror in the wrong color was the result of that. Actually, a very fat woman walked past my car at the grocery store and broke it off. I have the video, I don't have the woman to get a check from. Such is life. But the new mirror is black which I think looks good so I'm going to have the other painted.

My 05 Lariat had manual fold mirrors. I found about them when some a$$hole is a package van hit my driver side mirror and it folded instead of shattering and falling off. Needless to say I was uber-pissed. but the realization was still a cool experience LOL

I have often thought, "if my mustang mirrors were power-fold, I could park in the garage going at least 50!" :-)

Nearly all mirrors have a manual fold and they have for a long time, it's just there to prevent them from actually falling off when hit instead they just fold in or out. As long as I remember I think all cars have this so that's +20 years ago.

Auto fold is more recent, think some regulations somewhere in the EU or Asia dunno ? dicate the size of a mirror so to compensate they have auto fold as standard on many cars these days, especially because of the narrow parking places, narrower roads and the fact many cars are parked parallel to the road outside of the US.

I'm frankly surprised that people are surprised about this :)

Power folding mirrors is one option I would have liked on mine to make more room between the cars in the garage.

i'm not a fan of the jumbo ears/euro mirrors jk

power folding mirrors are common overseas, especially when things are so tight out there. i remember being in hong kong and some of the side streets are so tight my cousin would power fold the mirrors just to get through without hitting anything. same goes for parking. leave them out and you run the risk of someone breaking them off when you get back.

It seems like more of an angle change than total width, maybe 3 cm?
