Curious to see who is still running stock clutch with boost. Mine got hot on the dyno and started stinking. and has me paranoid since. No slipping on street at all. I can put it in 5th and like 40mph and floor it and she pulls it. Car only has 7k miles. Only 500 boosted. Wanna see who has been running what and how long. Is it worth me to do clutch now or wait til it really goes out?

Been running on my for about 5 months/2.5k miles. No issues, but I am putting away some cash every week in anticipation of the inevitable.

But, I hope to get at least a year out of it. I don't go to the track and don't rag on it hard.

Same story here.

My stock clutch started to slip during the data logging process on the 3rd pull to 7700.

It's fine for daily driving and a little rip here and there but it needs to be replaced before any heavy use. I am going to pop in a Spec stage 2 hybrid at some point this summer.

For now tho I am just enjoying the car after all the work that went into it. A break in period would really be a drag right now!

The clutch on my 2011 with 600rwhp was fine on the street. Even at the strip with summer tires running 11s it was OK. I took it to a dyno shop and the dyno clearly showed the clutch slipping. Especially at lower RPMs with the PD blower the torque apparently was too much.
So, I put an Exedy 500 in and it fixed the issue. The problem is that it added about 30% more pedal effort. Just enough for me not to enjoy the car anymore.
It seems on the 2018 this shouldn't be an issue as it is a twin disc clutch. Twice as much surface area.
This is also why I bought an automatic with the 2015. So I could have a PD blower without the stiff clutch.
I think on an '18 you would be OK with 600rwhp or more.

Whipple since day 1- got about 6,000 miles out of it before it started to slip on the dyno above 6400 rpms- classic bad clam chowder smell.

1st dyno session at 1,000 miles made 723 rwhp/560 ft-lbs
2nd dyno session at 6,000 miles made 673 rwhp/558 ft lbs (rpms were dancing all around up top)

The only difference between both runs was the addition of a CF DS and OPG/CS/ATI to rev to 7800 as opposed to 7300.

95% of miles are stop and go city driving, with maybe a total of a couple dozen 3rd through 5th highway pulls up to 7300-7800 rpm. Always on street tires and never tracked.

I think if the OEM pressure plates had a bit more clamping force the stock clutches would last quite a bit longer. I say this because when we took the stock clutch out, it didn't look too bad at all with plenty of material left. However, there was significant tiger stripping from when it was slipping on the dyno.

Out of curiosity, did you pull the fuse 62 or disable the ABS connector before you did your pull? First time I went on the dyno I didn't and it smelled horrible hah. My clutch lasted 2k miles boosted but it had a very hard life before that so I wasn't shocked.

Once they start slipping its just a matter of time!!!,especially on high hp cars.

Yes i did dis connect the connector in engine bay for traction. Car seems fine on street and even on the dyno sheet it showed no slipping. But ever since i smelled that deathly smell ive been paranoid

Heat plays a big part too. I did 2 3rd gear pulls to 7700 consecutively and it was fine. The 3rd pull was in 4th and it started slipping at 6000. Like I said its been fine since.

If your just messing around on the street with a hard pull here and there you should be fine for a while.

Never experienced any slipping on the street or when I had it on the dyno. Then again, I'm now probably still under 650 or so to the wheels and it doesn't go to the 1/4mile strip or get treated like a rented mule.

Yea mines under 650 to which is why i was surprised it was burning on dyno. I am thinking it was just excessive heat from dyno load

Unless you just can't drive, or have a factory defect, the stock clutch really isn't that bad.

I was still running the stock clutch on my car with boost for about a year. Never ran into any clutch slip, I just upgraded to mcleod preemptively before adding a fuel system and changing to e85.
