First off, I did it 90% for looks. Paid $110 from an online Ford dealer. Drilled some 1 1/4" "lightening" holes for looks and changed out the emblem. I put a bend in it as shown for clearance. Trial and fit. Give it a good bend as it will spring back some. It's easy, actually. I filed some of the intake plastic rib for a little extra clearance at one spot only (shown). There's a good 1/2" clearance at the minimum. Any more bend and I could feel it when closing the hood. I did some brake torquing to visually check engine movement and it's negligible. Did a hood clearance check with putty, see photos. The brace touches the pad but not enough to leave an imprint after 3 months. The nuts are standard metric from any hardware store and I put some heavy washers under them to spread the load. Hope this helps.

Any reason you didn't do the other braces while you were in there? Looks good!

Excellent job thinking about doing the same with holes by means of a greenlee punch.
I've seen electricians use them. They're neat. I used a hole saw on a drill press, pre-drilled the 1/4" pilot holes, smoothed with a small sanding drum and touch up with silver paint.

@ Bmac, thanks and yes. :D

Well that's a different way to go about doing it, wish I had the tools that some of you guys have so that I could try things like this.

Looks good.

I saw another thread about the GT brace install on the V-6 and thought I'd put up my experience. Boils down to, give it a careful tweak in the right place and it should fit fine without any other aids. Gussy it up a little, too. It sure gives the engine bay a brawny look, IMO.
