The cobra nameplate was only used because shelby wouldn't let ford use gt500. The cobra name was used of and on from the mustang 2 all the way to the terminator. There was a torino cobra in 69,70, and 71. Not to mention the original 289, 427, and cobra daytonas. You could make the argument that the cobra nameplate is more worn out than gt500.

That is also true, but I would think most people would remember the SVT Cobra Mustang's of years past.

I stopped by and asked a couple of guys about the post and some of them had no idea what I was talking about. One guy went to talk to "their Mustang guy" and came back with..."they posted that to create interest cause there is an announcement coming before the end of the year"... He didn't "know" if it was GT500 or a Shelby America car.
