It'll add some excitement to the M25 commute

Probably cost of conversion to satisfy foreign guidelines. The car is bewilderingly cheap, and I imagine that once converted the profit margin will evaporate.

We don't really need a GT350 in the UK, sure if would be nice if it was available. IMHO we need the equivalent of a Mustang "RS". Something tuned for our roads taht won't contravene local regulations.

You could always import a LHD one

I'm guessing one reason its not sold here is because it'd need Type Approval/Crash testing (as it's significantly different up front than the stock GT) and that'd dilute any profits.

I think the same will go for the forthcoming GT500, as that uses the same carbon radiator support (and hence the same headlamps) as the GT350.

There are a handful of personally imported GT350s in the UK. In fact, this one was photographed at Modurstang this morning :)

DIY? Plenty of UK companies that do official LHD > RHD conversions for US cars. Must be the cheapest option?

Other option being "upgrading" your existing RHD and throw on all the 350 bits. Obviously all the 350 parts are available. Would be horrendously expensive, and obviously not an official 350 but surely that is also doable? Bill Shepherd/Clive Sutton could surely build one, inc Voodoo engine. Could even do it over a number of years. Look at me - I already have the red starter button, and official shift knob - well on the way

Can someone please give me an understanding of costs for importing?

Very roughly:

Say $55k
Circa £40k
Add shipping. Guessing £3k??? ( No idea)
Then 10% duty on this
Then 20% VAT

Anything else?
Is servicing easy enough with Ford UK (no jokes!!), what's the road tax annually and is insurance reasonable?

Any other costs missed? Conversion for UK roads?

£3k for shipping should be more than enough (and that'll include insurance).

You'll need an IVA (Individual Vehicle Approval)........so lights converted to UK spec and then put through the test (I can recommend someone). Say £1500 for that.

Road tax would be £255 (I think that what I pay for my imported S197). It's a flat rate for cars that don't have an official C02 rating.

:)

Oh, and....

Servicing? No need to take it to Ford, just find a reputable independent (you'll have no warranty, anyway, least not one with Ford). That's why the one I posted above was being worked on at Modurstang.

:)
