no pics yet -

but seriously - some of the "black exhaust or High temp" paint is just grey - and crap -

hence it has 20 coats on the tips - 4 different types of paint

- still not really happy but will take another look when I get back to the UK

Also folks - dont get too close when you are spraying from a can - a bit light headed and a severe headache afterwards - and that was spraying outside - with a mask etc!

Put a non gloss lacquer over it if you want, i found the same it's a very veyr dark matte grey. Also spray in left to right and then cross hatch patterns to bring the colour up. And finally, high temp stove paint is very thick so you can spray on thickly.

spraying the tips was pretty simple - as the exhaust was off the car at the time!:D

But still - preparation is key, completely cleaned the tips with white spirit and a lint free cloth

then set too with 2 cans of heat proof black paint (Halfrauds) - but as per above - it came out a kind of matt dark grey finish (many many thin coats)

So - I went back to Halfrauds - and got some clear lacquer - and again many many thin coats - it put a gloss on them and protected the whole tip too

but - the exhausts do seem to "disappear" into the rear valance a bit!

Bit late to add a comment but .. I recently painted the exhaust on my '13 5.0 while I had it removed from the car and used regular 2K paint and lacquer. Its discoloured from the heat up the front end but anything from about halfway back has stayed perfect after many miles. Specific high temperature paints always look rubbish to me !

What make are the tips?
Tips came fixed to stainless steel exhaust - UK-Performance

The tips on this exhaust are ok - but a little "shiny" and as mine is a Shadow Black - I was looking for as little outside metal / chrome etc as possible

no more pictures though - I cant stand the grief!! :D:D:D

I agree about the high temp paints - hence multiple coats and still not happy - so finally multiple coats of Halfords car lacquer (not high temperature)

- the exhaust tips actually dont get that hot anyway
