You don't fire someone that high up on a random Wednesday without a replacement named at the same time for something small. He probably got hammered at a conference and stripped naked and slapped a girl's ass.

I agree! had to be something major. Unfortunately for Ford, this doesn't paint a clearer picture for the future of the automaker.

Yeah, Hackett isn't exactly giving anyone the warm and fuzzy feeling about the future of Ford either. Raj, while pushing questionable things like the RS through with it's massive recall instead of delaying, at least had the Performance team in mind.

I'm a bit worried that someone like him won't be called upon as a replacement. Not good.

First Fields then Nair. Most definitely a blurry future No Doubt. Maybe that's why the GT500 was pushed back for 2020 and maybe there won't be a GT500 with how crazy things are at Ford right now. Who knows. This is crappy timing for Ford.

I think the change from Fields to Hackett hasn't affected the active performance programs too much, but has canceled upcoming programs like the S650 program and possibly future GT500 style variants.

Honestly, they just started the GT500 too late. It seems that they waited to start it until after the GT350 launched, as a new program takes about 4 years to develop. That puts the start timeframe around 2015 if the late 2019/2020MY rumors are to be believed.

They have put way too much money and time into the GT500 plus its announcement to cancel it now. S650 versions, more than likely axed

However I think Ford and Ford Performance has peaked in the 2013-2017 calendar years and we begin the slide back down. I don't think it will be as bad as the late 70s and early 80s but it won't be pretty

This is not news to me. The writing is on the wall. Anyone with any whereabouts would be actively seeking employment elsewhere. Jim Hackett has set course and performance cars are not in the plan.

Obviously Mr. Nair's inappropriate behavior cost him his job based on a thorough investigation and it sounds like to me that he admitted some of his short comings/mistakes whatever they may be and paid the ultimate price of being fired.

Having said that Hackett will replace Nair in short order and even though I am not a big fan of Hackett so far I don't see a major impact with respect to Ford Perfomance and Nair's departure on the short term.

We all know how passionate the Ford family and many other senior managers in Dearborn are when it comes to their heritage/legacy and history with respect to high performance vehicles (Mustang especially) and if a combination of Nair's replacement and/or Hackett do not get the job done and show some better leadership within the next year in all areas including Ford Performance I would suggest that their positions will be in jeopardy as well.

;)

Wonder if he hired an..... Escort
maybe... Explored... a bit more than he should have

Okay, okay, I'm done... lets just Focus on the subject at hand

This does make me nervous for the future of Ford Performance. Hopefully Hackett picks a more performance-minded candidate for the position, but lord knows he'll probably pick some Hybrid-SUV enthusiast

Shame. Dude really pushed the 'Ford Performance' angle.

He was on the GT video. Also on Barrett/Jackson in January with their fundraising auction.
