Just looking around in my engine bay and I noticed that there is oil residue on the drivers side of the engine around where the valve cover meets the engine block. It is not like this on the passengers side. I am wondering if this is a bad valve cover gasket or what?

Try just tightening down the valve cover. Others have had the same issue.

Careful... plastic... God I hate all this plastic. It's great new but at 10 years old? If in warranty, don't touch it. take it in for an oil leak and they should replace the gasket. It's a minor issue but we just had this done on our 2015 CR-V.
