Yes, however he said even with used parts you would still be ball parked 12k
If you do the work yourself that number is still way off. A good 2015 F150 5.0 with about 30k miles goes for around $3k on LKQ. That with a used 6r80 ($1000) accounts for most of the cost. You will then need PCM ($150), Motor mounts ($100) , engine harness ($250), alternator ($60 used), ac compressor (about $200 used), and misc hoses and connectors. I am not accounting for an exhaust system since that can vary wildly depending on setup.

LS swap? I'm curious if that would work. Hmmm... Ford Camaro.
Mostly looking at it for the aluminum block... An aluminum SBF bare block is $4400.... :eyebulge:

Zack, just curious would you be doing all this AND getting an 18 GT or one or the other? Why the idea to upgrade now?

One or the other right now. If I do the engine swap the plan would be to complete the swap soon and then wait until the S650 to purchase a new mustang. My current car would then become an all out project car. While the 18 is nice I just am having a hard time justifying a new car loan right now especially with the S650 around the corner.

12k doesn't sound bad down the line especially if you own your car.
I would why not ls motors are sweet.

The draw to it for me is that I could build a 427 stroker with the aluminum block and come in at about the same weight as our V6 when done. That would be an awesome combo... In order for a coyote to hit the power numbers a 427 can NA it would need a supercharger. That easily adds 120lbs on top of the ~430lbs coyote. An LS is about 400lbs.

Might have found something... 2014 F150 5.0 with 36k for $2300.... tempting. Trans for $1000 and misc parts for another $700-1000 puts me at $4000-4300 total for the swap. That would be the base swap with supercharging coming down the road (possibly with OEM supercharger from MY19 GT500!)

Aren't the trans the same along all the models? Or are the differences between the engines? I fugured the connections might be different when swapping but not the whole trans.

I wanted to swap out for the 3.5l but I saw a mpt video where they swapped it out on a s197 and they tipped the scales around 4000lbs.

The V6 and 5.0 transmissions have different bellhousing bolt patterns unfortunately. Other then that though they are largely the same. I could just make an adapter plate but with my trans having 108k miles on it I would rather just swap it out for a lower mileage replacement.

Ok got it. I am definitely curious/interested in swapping out to the v8. I'm glad we have choices between engine swap, prochager or turbos. Though I'll wait until all the warranties are out if I do an engine swap.

Haha yea my warranties are long gone! 108k on the clock currently which is why I am looking at engine swaps vs turbo/supercharger setups.

I was contemplating this mine is currently pro charged. But was wondering if I should 5.0 swap it but it will be pricey also because I would want to convert mine to a manual. Getting into a new loan will be the same thing if you think about it. I test drove a manual gt pp and really liked it but they wanted 45k but I’m trying my best to just wait for the new platform instead

Yeah but at the same time if you stay with the 3.7 which 108k miles isn't a lot but you can pick a low mileage one up for 800 dollars usually.

That is my build in progress.. I threw it on there because I am lazy so I had everything together one night and put it there so when the build is complete I dont have to find everything and write it down. I have ordered most of the supporting mods I need to run near 700whp currently working funds for the exact kit I want from him.

@BE6Pony

I noticed on your sig that you are running a jmp kit. How is it working for you? How much boost are you running?
