I don't have access to a lift or any space to do it. A shop is my only option.

There's another auto place even closer that may be able to do it.. it is about 3 blocks from the guy I bought it from (Exhaust is still at his house)... I don't need to move it far I lifted the thing and it's really quite heavy, maybe I can find a trolly or something and wheel it down there.
You don’t need a lift. Jack and jack stands will be fine. You can probably even do it on ramps but it might be really tight. As far as space goes, you don’t need that much more space than a regular parking space. I did it in my garage on jack stands. Maneuvering the exhaust was the hardest part due to weight. Good luck.

Edit: only tools you need are 13mm and 15mm sockets. I also used a rubber mallet to help with taking off the factory clamps.

Hello guys!

Would a Borla S-type for the GT fit and work properly on our V6? Would the sound be the same or very similar to the S-Type for the V6?

Thanks!

If it is a catback it will bolt right up, if it is an axleback you will need an adapter piece. Can't comment on the sound as I haven't heard either in person.

Well it's on the car now and it's really a great upgrade! The noise isn't much louder but it is quite a bit deeper. It looks fantastic too. It should have come from the factory like this. Great upgrade for little money.

Sorry I didn’t read all the post but from what I’ve read a 2015-2017 GT Catback exhaust will bolt up and fit on a 2015-2017 V6 without any cutting, welding or fabricating ? I was told by a specialist at American Muscle and a few other people that it wouldn’t fit. I was planning on getting a GT SR 2.5” performance X pipe with GT 2.5” Flowmaster outlaw mufflers.

That combination won't bolt right up without adapters in between if you're throwing it on your stock exhaust. The x-pipe to headers will be fine, then it has your original pipes which need an adapter to hook up to the x-pipe, then at the opposite end of the x-pipe you'll need an adapter again to go to the axle backs.

V6 pipes are 2.25" while GT is 2.5". If you were getting a proper catback system, it would bolt in with no issues.

Here's a shitty paint drawing to show what I mean, anyone else feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I installed the stock catback exhaust off a 2016 GT onto my 2016 V6 with no issue, took a little over an hour in my driveway. No I'm cutting the 2.5"pipe and attaching an axle-back Roush exhaust.

If you do it like nmusti, that's just what I did for mine. I started with a stock GT catback. Cut off the mufflers and welded on Ford Performance Touring GT mufflers. Cut the resonator and put on Steeda's GT x-pipe. With that everything is the same size throughout.

But if you're mixing GT products on stock V6 pipes, it will take some additional work (adapters/welding instead of just clamps).

Keep in mind - aftermarket cat back exhausts designed to fit the GT will bolt right up with no adapters to a V6 car. My exhaust is a MBRP for a GT. Bolts right up - zero issues.

Thank you all for the input, it helped me out a lot. I have stock GT mufflers and was going to order an SR performance x pipe but after reading your description using the v6 piping would be a bit of a hassle due to the 2.25” piping. I would either need a stock/aftermarket GT catback or adapters and welds to fit the current 2.25” piping...I’ll just stick with the Flowmaster v6 scavenger xpipe seems a lot easier lol.

I think you need to clarify what you mean by stock GT mufflers. If you have the whole thing (catback), then your original plan will work. If you have YOUR stock V6 piping right now and were trying to put a combination of made-for-GT x-pipe and axlebacks, then you'd run in to what I drew for the diagram.

Mufflers = axleback

I have 15 GT axleback (Just mufflers) but I just bought a 17 GT Catback with around 4000km on them! Got them for a great price due to some surface rust and no one really wanting oem exhaust! Also ordered the SR performance GT xpipe!!! I am pretty excited.

Not sure if this was mentioned already but would a 3” gt catback bolt right up to ours too? Or does it have to be 2.5?
