Today Ford Europe is releasing the new F7 maps update for Sync2 systems.

Here's some info from the dealer memo:

The new F7 version offers further optimized and easier route guidance combined with extended functionality like imporved traffic avoidance functions and an extended collection of POI's. Map data is supplied by HERE, a leading supplier of car navigation data.

The following improvements are included in version F7 (based on Q1 2017 map data) compared to the previous version F6 (based on Q4 2015 map data):

ā€¢ 1,8 million new kilometers of roads (+13%)
ā€¢ 1,1 million extra points of interest (+15%)
ā€¢ 4,3 million extra street names
ā€¢ 440.000 extra one way street indications
ā€¢ 5,3 million extra speedlimit indications
ā€¢ Updates of Ford dealer and Ford service partner locations
ā€¢ Navigation coverage for 40 European countries, including Eastern Europe
ā€¢ Improved accuracy for estimated time of arrival
ā€¢ New residential and industrial areas
ā€¢ Updated highway junctions and exits
ā€¢ Extra POI's, including cash machines, gas stations, restaurants, shops and hotels

MSRP on the mainland is EUR 179, so probably around GBP 160 in the UK

Such a rip off when you can buy a brand new Garmin with lifetime updates for less than Ā£100:crazy::frusty:

I know, and the the Garmin is much better. It's just the price you pay for the convenience of not having something stuck on to the windscreen.

As J UK says, wait a few months and they come down. I think my last one was about Ā£40.

Aren't updates covered under the service plan?

They don't come down, what's being sold on eBay are almost all illegal copies.

Utter, utter rip-off. Even more so when you consider how out-of-date even the latest version is.

I set mine to find the nearest Shell garage as I was running on fumes leaving Silverstone. After 5 miles or so past zero, I finally get to the station to find it was actually a BP. I asked the guy how long it had been a BP, "five years" was his reply.

So balls to Ford and balls to their industry-wide mugging-the-customer attitude. If I can get a knock-off version off Ebay that's what I will damn well do.

Who's going to be the guinea pig and get one first? :D

Has anyone bought an F7 update on ebay & can recommend a good seller?
I've just ordered 2 (from different sellers) on eBay so I'll let you know. Got my F4-F6 the same way so don't expect a problem. Ā£42-44 quid each.

Update - Both arrived quicker than advertised, slotted one in mustang, one in Mondeo, good as gold. Sellers were jihall-0 & nav_goods
