Dealer told me they have ordered a new oil cooler for my car. I took it in for the 2-year service and they said it was covered by a TSB and so they will replace it.
Did you have to prompt them or did they do it off their own bat?

At the 1-year service I mentioned the oil cooler issue just to have it on the car’s service history.

This time, 2-year service, they told me it would be replaced.

I know they’ve replaced some engines so maybe as it is a new part no. they take the initiative?

I’ll have it done as I don’t want it in the service history that I refused to have a new oil cooler fitted.

My car is running really nice, especially since the last service, I’ve had it 27 months but only 6000km.

Here's hoping.

Mine is booked in for its 24 month service in a couple of weeks time - will ask if it's not mentioned - 12700km on the clock and running fine.

This will also be their third attempt to fix the aircon.

Crikey... you need to get out a bit more!

I'm a weekender, and mine has clocked up 11k in 12 months. Get out, pedal to the floor!

You own a Dremel??!!

Be interesting to see what's inside these things that fails.

On the way out of Hamilton today I was following a 2018 Mustang GT and I thought I must take down the rego, because in NZ you have to pass over your rego to get parts at the Ford dealership.
Now I have my rego and the 2018 Mustang GT one, after business was done in Hamilton I was straight round to the Ford dealership to get an oil cooler for each of these cars
And wow what do you know they are different part numbers, looks like they have updated.
2016 Mustang GT FOGR3Z6A642C
2018 Mustang GT FOGR3Z6A642D
And for my Mustang GT (2016) the old part number has been superseded to the new part number.
Just thought I would let you all know.
I have ordered one for peace of mind.
Which begs the question, what were part numbers
FOGR3Z6A642A and FOGR3Z6A642B?
Has it taken them 3 attempts to fix? In which case who knows if attempt 3 will be any more successful than attempt 2

Looking at the location of the thing it's going to get hammered by heat no matter what. I'm a bit surprised they haven't yet developed a low budget heat wrap solution like they did for the battery cables. Personally I think the ac lines of the driver side of our cars is a failure waiting to happen due to their proximity to the headers but fortunately no sign yet.

They’ve pulled the dash out 3 times or just plain can’t work out what’s wrong with it?

Replaced the schrader valve twice and regassed.

Kind of like putting an elastoplast on a bullet wound.

Hopefully they’ll concede that it’s actually the evaporator this time.

I guess the bright side is that they didn’t just instantly go for the dash removal, only to find that it wasn’t the evap after all...

I suspect that a high proportion of evaporators will fail at some point - I’d much prefer it be replaced whilst still under warranty rather than have to fight Ford tooth and nail afterwards.

So, sent my car in for 2-year service last Friday.
I briefly mentioned about the oil cooler issue but apparently the guy at the desk said its news to him.
I rang a few hours later, this time talking to another guy and he said its news to him as well. I asked him to google it and let me know.
Nothing was mentioned when I picked up my car.
Maybe my 2016 Jan built pony is not affected....?

^^^^ Hi Yellow GT,

They sound like an ignorant bunch to me.

There is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) on this issued to the dealers so they should know.

Cheers
