Weight of 2016 GT compared to 64 GT

Lost a bet with my son who has a 64/5 Mustang - the new car is much heavier by about 650 kilos! You would think as the modern technology kicks in it would get lighter but no.

It's all the little things like ABS, airbags, anti-intrusion reinforcement in the door panels, anti-pollution gear, electric windows, etc, that all add up. I imagine the current car is bigger too.

Having said that, I think the development team were aiming for a lighter car, if the film 'A Faster Horse' is any indication.

Can you imagine the performance if it weighed 650 kilos less?

You can also thank all the safety regulations that require air bags and crumple zones for the added weight
