ordered a gt350 knob to swap onto my car. using Steeda tri ax. and of coarse it didn't twist on. didn't remember that my gt has different transmission than gt350 lol. my question, is there anyway to make this knob work? it looks like the threaded part has a Philips head at the end of it. wondering if that means I can swap out the threaded part that fits only transmission? hope so love the knob. has great weight to it..

CJ Pony Parts has a knob they've already re-threaded.
I'm sure a local machine shop could do it for a minimal charge.

ok sweet. can I do it with a tap and die set? if I take to a shop what size do I tell them to rethread it to? also thanks for the help! I was super pumped than ended up spending like 20min to get my old knob straight and reverse work again lol.

It is not possible to simply cut a different thread pattern into a hole that is already threaded; you would end up with a very loose & wobbly knob.

I would think increasing it to correct size would be a good fit. If anything use tephlon tape. Im sure they are both metric. Just one is probably a 12mm and other a 14mm. My guess.

If you increase the tap size enough it will clean up. You can look up the tap drill diameter spec'd for the new threads and calculate how much it will clean the old threads off. Sometimes you can get away with a little truncation of threads but full engagement is stronger.
