Well, After selling my old 16 GT PP, I have went to a few Mopar products and wasn't really happy with them compared to the mustang..So the other day I went and visited our local Ford dealer and they had a Black 2018 with the 400a and Performance Package that was absoulutley amazing! So the deed is done! I will be ordering my 18 GT tonight! Can't wait to get it, she's going to become a beast!

Here are a few pics of the black 18 I looked at.

I do have a question that I am looking for help on. I have seen some great things about the magnetic ride suspension, and thats the only option that is still up in the air for tonight. Is it worth the money??

UPDATE: 4/4/2018: Here she is!!

MR is probably an awesome thing to have until you have to repair or replace it. It's apparently also not really meant for serious track duty, just an overall more comfortable/planted ride (which goes in line with PP1).

That's speculation at this point. We don't yet know how well it does at the track, no data yet. It really appears to be worth it unless u plan on coil overs or air ride being installed at a later time.

Well, yeah, but it is essentially what the Ford engineers said. In their eyes, PP1 isn't intended for track duty (neither is PP2 for that matter).

An S550 with squared 305 sport cup 2's and 6 piston brembos, from the factory, is not intended for track use?

congratulations. I am ordering mine next week. Lightning blue gt convertible with midnight blue interior (later will put dark blue stripes with red pin stripe), auto. So excited. Just last few decisions to make:

1. Active exhaust, yes or no?
2. Black out yes or no? Being a convertible, I am only getting black 19"wheels (no roof to black out) in the package. Is it worth the money over the stock 18"?

Any thoughts?

Quick. Change the order color to anything but black. Trust me on this.

If I decided on a 2018 it would be my daily driver and would also serve as my HPDE instructor car; if PP1 and/or PP2 GTs aren't intended for track duty I won't consider it.

Yep, that's exactly what the low-voice Chief dude said. Notice in the manual/order guide it says to equip it with coolers if you intend to track it. They are positioning it as an aggressively-spirited daily driver car. They want people to go up a tier to the Shelby stuff if they are tracking them.

edit: subject change, The OP is 16 years old and is ordering a $45k car??

Well that's discouraging...

That's not to say that it won't be capable. It is just not the marketing position Ford's taking with it. a PP2 car isn't going to have the track survivability as a GT350 track pack car. They don't want the faster (straight line only don't worry GT350 people!) 2018GT outdoing their halo car in its own segment, so by holding it back with necessary cooling in OEM form is a way to accomplish that.

The GT-350 is the bottleneck that's holding the GT back IMO. They need to drop that car and come out with the GT-500, which will be absurdly fast, to allow the GT to bridge a bit more of that gap and become the GT-350 beater it is supposed to be. S197 BOSS 302 ring a bell? The 15 GT was bench-marked against that, I'm sure the next gen GT will benchmark against the GT-350.

They weren't saying the suspension wasn't set up for the track. They were likely focusing on the lack of cooling. The mag ride and much of the suspension was borrowed from the GT350.
