My ford sport catback exhaust was installed soon after delivery
.....right after a full throttle blast of 1st and 2nd gear or a highway blast from 60 to 100+...:D..there is a burning or exhaust smell in the car.
It's somewhat annoying but never questioned it as it dissipates quickly, another 15 GT owner at work described the same thing after hard acceleration....he went with flowmasters and resonator delete.....anyone else ???

Factory and some of the better aftermarket exhaust are made to seal well but not 100%. Anywhere there is no welded connection there is gonna be gases getting through. I'd say its just normal.

Just the protective oil on the metal being burnt off.

probably your FRPP xpipe. mine cracked and was making an awful rattling noise. borla warrantied it and shipped me a borla x pipe that comes w/ the borla systems. it looks totally different from the FRPP x pipe and looks more robust.

I'm changing the FRPP sport to the Corsa extreme catback anyway, so we'll see very soon if the full throttle smell continues

I have been told that it is the smell of the catalytic converters working hard at WOT. If you keep your headers, it will make this smell regardless of which exhaust you run.

My car has 8000 miles, and still makes this smell on hard pulls.

Mine has the smell too on hard pulls and the only thing I have done is the sound tube delete. I've been meaning to make a thread asking this myself, glad it's not an actual problem. I've had friends ride with me and after a quick pull they ask if it's my clutch and I assure them it's not but I didn't know what it was haha.

The catalytic converter smell sure makes sense, as it's the same smell like when your driving behind someone in a newer performance car that just did a full throttle blast.

The part I don't understand is why that catalytic odor is coming into the interior and not just out the back of the exhaust
