So...as title says it.

What you guys think?
Should I paint calipers or rather buy a cover?

I read somewhere that the paint goes off after some time but on other hand some review of covers on AM web had issues with fitting and with no space between stock 19 rims and the cover...

Anyone can give me good advice?
Alse - doesnt the painting lead to some warranty issues?

Thanx for reactions!

In my humble opinion, covers are totally naff. There are plenty of professional paint shops that will do you a custom job, will cost more but I believe you'll be much happier with the results.

Will in no way affect the warranty.

Thanx a lot. I honestly think it wont be even more expensive, since i have to ship everything from US to EU and thats nothing cheap :), but painting has no shipping and VAT :)

I am just nervous about the lifetime of the paintjob - I dont wanna some ugly scratches or some wear off to be seen after short time.
...so another question - how long will the colour stay on the calipers? forever? (and by forever i mean at least 5+ years) or do i need to repaint it from time to time?

The type of heat resistant paint that'll be used will last as long as the OEM paint, get a recommended paint shop for a professional finish and it'll last a lifetime.

They'll not use living room emulsion

I would suggest the G2 system to paint the calipers. You can do it yourself or have is sprayed professionally and should last for as long as you own the car. I have the calipers on all my cars done with the G2 and 2 of them are over 10 years old now and still look like the day I did them.

I did the G2 paint myself and it looks great. I only removed the wheels, but I took my time cleaning and masking around the calipers, covering the bolt ends, etc. I also tried different brushes and found that the one that came with the kit worked best. After I recrimped it, no bristles came out on the paint.

Also, there is plenty of paint. Try to get 3 coats on before the dry time. Don't worry about the brush marks, they will smooth out as it dries. I was able to raise the car and do all four at the same time, but I suppose you could do one at a time, if necessary. You might want to just mix part of the paint at a time. It has to be used right away once it is mixed.

It has been several months, and they still look great. I get compliments on them.

As bad as covers are, I actually have them. My reason was to see how it would look with my setup because I didn't want to go with a painted color without knowing if the color was what I wanted. I have the base GT with standard brakes and the cover looks better than the standard silver steel look right now. Now that I seen and decided on the color I wanted, I will be changing to the entire brake system to either a GT350R conversion with red calibers or Wilwood kit also with red calibers.

I guess it depends on what you are going to use the covers for as mines are temporary for a few months or until I wear out the current brakes faster.

I did the G2 red kit over Thanksgiving, and I'm very happy with the results!

Take your time, and clean, clean, clean!
