MyFord Touch Sync 2 to Sync 3 Upgrade for Mustang

This will no doubt be a question in 2015 Mustang owner minds when at some point 2016 Mustangs get Sync 3.

It's already on my mods list.

Found these guys while looking for info on a migration/upgrade path to Sync 3. I have emailed for info and will post on this thread when I get a reply.

Got in before me mate .... SYNC 3 is listed as standard equipment in the top part of the window sticker as is Line Lock, both of which are not in our "export market standard equipment", same for Sirius XM (Satellite Radio) etc etc.

Sync 3 will no doubt be standard sometime in late 2016. It 'sgoing to happen.

No big deal what Sync I have. I want my car!

from what ford au facebook support say, any deliveries after aug 2016 will get sync 3, and it will not be a swap from sync 2 to sync 3.

If they are going in cars in the states now why wouldn't all 2016 cars get sync3 as well that's bloody ridiculous.

I agree ozracer .. can't understand why SYNC 2 is going in our "2015" cars while on the next LHD build shift SYNC 3 was going in US "2016" domestic cars :frusty:

Hence looking at aftermarket migration from SYNC2 to SYNC3 as Ford don't offer it ... but their OEM does

I know its not a deal breaker, but at least with Sync 2 you could assign your own wallpaper. Sync 3 does not allow this.???????

Not sure if it's the same for you, guys, but in Europe we've been told it's because there are/were licencing issues with Sync 3 :(

Be interesting to see what the OEM comes back with.

Ford is looking at options to integrate Apple Car Play or Android Auto..depending on user choice but to get either Mustang must have Sync 3. This be a mod I'll definitely get

Sync 2 is still the standard system on the base US cars, Sync 3 is available as standard or an option on some models only.

In Europe Ford have only recently introduced Sync 2, so goodness know when Sync 3 might make an appearance in the export models....

and the hardware is completely different - it will not be an easy or cheap "upgrade" to do it yourself.
