NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

Android users also got a Waze update today as well

Here's how to do a full upgrade from any previous 3.x version to 18093. This instructions are for NA NAV sync 3 v3.x (you can extrapolate this for non-NAV if you're savvy enough. For sync 3 v2.x or v1.x you'll have to first install the vanilla 18025 from the link below then run through this procedure. For either non-NAV and/or non-NA builds use the appropriate vanilla 18025)

1) download the full 18025 from Ford
2) extract the zip file into a USB key
3) download the shell-only 18093 update from Ford
4) copy the JR3T-14G381-AM_117055.tar.gz file into the SyncMyRide folder on the USB key (created in step 2)
5) edit autoinstall.lst file on the USB key so that it looks exactly like this:

Does the any imply that it will also work if I have one of the "unofficial" Sync 3 updates installed?

What does 18093 do that 18025 doesn't?

That's the idea yes. BTW, if you just want to update any of the unofficial v3 builds to the official 18025 instead of 18093 then follow steps 1 and 2, skip 3 and 4 and for step 5 use:

Awesome, thanks, I wanted to get back to official Sync 3 but before your comment, the other method I knew of seemed a bit tedious.

In my experience, and I mostly use Android Auto - it is now rock solid, noticeably faster performance and I have not had Android Auto fail on me a single time since this install either - and I have been using it for nearly a week now.

Previously I would sometimes have to disconnect /reconnect the phone multiple times - or it would half come up on the screen with none of the buttons appearing, just general crapiness.


18093 is brilliant! ...and the upgrade takes about 5 minutes, as it is just the single core OS file which is being changed.

I bought my 2018 last month and it came with build 17276. Is there something I need to do in order to install the official 18025 build? I saw in another forum that 18025 won't install over 17276, but not sure if that is correct. I downloaded 18025 from Ford today. Does it matter if I don't use a 32gb memory stick? The only one I have handy is a 16gb.

That's bunk. 18025 is the natural progression from 17276. Worked fine for me.

Ok, that's what I figured.

Okay I feel like I'm missing something. My '17 was running sync 3 v 1.0

I downloaded the update to a usb stick, ran everything, did the car restart, but now its only at 2.0 instead of 3.0?

Is it a tiered installation and I need to plug the usb stick back in?

I'm sorry if this is covered elsewhere in this thread...

I did a Sync 3 swap on my base mustang and it had 2.2 loaded. It recently did an update to 2.3. Sounds like there's no way to get 3.0 without uploading from a usb which is fine. Any major differences between V2 and V3? The only thing that annoys me with mine is that when scrolling through presets with the wheel, it only stays on preset 1, 2 or 3. I wish it would go from 1 to 2 to 3 without having to change the preset on the screen.

Not simultaneously. If you switch apps on the phone, Waze will not display on the car's screen. If you switch back to Waze, it will show up again.
