You provided a post about engine life/miles as 'evidence' that the higher temp was better, but it lacked any detail. Maybe those details are just in your head, but none were conveyed. Was it a Honda CRV, Motorcycle, or a dirt track car? Nothing about oils. Forced induction? Nothing...

It's the temp on the outside of the cooler hoses, not the actual oil temp.
The oil cooler has a thermal valve in it anyway, it blocks off the cooler below 204F.
The underbelly pan on the S650 needed a little trimming to account for the backet. I don't think an S550 would have it that issue. As part of the install, I cut holes in the fender liner to allow air flow through the cooler. I tried an aftermarket fender liner, because the OEM PP lines...
