I tried to find out who the previous owners were by calling the dealers on the carfax but they would not give out the owners personal information. It was a dead end unfortunately.
The vin tells me that it is a fusion 2.0T block. But beyond that how do I know if it's stock? I stuck a borescope down into the cylinders and took pics. I was told it wasn't stock but it also has stock cams ( verified by me ) and stock intercooler, wastegate and turbo. So the question is - if...
I did try to find out who the owners were because the carfax doesn't tell you personal information about the owner but I called a couple of the dealers on the carfax and none would divulge any personal information on the owners so it was a dead end.
I don't but I do have the print out ford gave me of the vin of the donor car which was a 2015 ford fusion fwd 2.0T. And judging by what I was told by the mechanics and looking at the motor mounts it seems correct.
The Roush package for the RS1 was just cosmetic and bolt on parts. Exhaust was probably the only real performance part. Everything else was for looks. I didn't buy new and probably wouldn't pay an $8k premium but pre-owned was a nice bonus until I found out what I was dealing with, but this was...
I don't "know" it is closed deck. I also don't know a lot about this motor. We searched the vin and found a salvage fusion with 138k miles that matched. Again, lot of unknowns with this car. The only things I know for sure is that no one wants to touch it. Tell me what you think based on this...
I know it is the wrong engine because the motor mounts don't line up ( see pic ) and there is an oil leak near that area. I know it is a 2015 ford fusion block because of the serial numbers pulled off of the block. I also know I started this thread looking for anyone who knows "factually"...
Thanks for that link. I was really discouraged from going the ford oem route because a ford dealer here gave me a $13k-$15k quote for everything new which is crazy.
I agree with you. Ethically sure, legally I'm not so sure. My brother used to be a dealer and he said just trade it in. After inspection if they decide they can't retail it - it goes to auction anyway.
We filed multiple complaints - one with the BBB and another with the consumer protection group in Georgia. They pretty much told me thanks for letting us know - we will not be getting back with you and if there is any follow up we'll let you know. My guess is they don't do anything.
So I was told by one shop that it was leaking from around the timing cover but like I mentioned they don't want to touch it. The motor has days where it won't idle and the check engine light is on with a code that says a cylinder 1 misfire at 1k rpm. The issues I fixed were the fuel line somehow...
For sure, I did - twice. I do like the car but with all these issues and unknowns it just doesn't seem smart to keep it but also trading it in isn't so easy right? As others pointed out, ethically I should disclose the motor issue. Again, no easy answer and all options are costly.
Agree with you to some degree hence the reason I can probably only trade it in to a dealer. They may just turn around and sell at auction and it's basically how this dealer got their hands on it.
It is not enough to put a new motor in. The lawyers took half because it was a settlement and the laywer fee was $4k. To go to court would of taken years. Anyway, I don't know exactly what was done to this car hence the reason I'm trying to find out the history on it.
