Just got back from collision center with a working door handle again! Turns out my hunch was right and it was a piece of glass that got in there and jammed the mechanism. Guys at the shop were super helpful and everything cost me not even $100 to fix. Definitely glad I was able to get this...
Ok, so I'm taking the car to a different collision center later today. Hopefully they can give me a better course of action here and not go with the break-the-car-and-pay-to-fix-it method.
EDIT: Just got back and the guy at this place basically said the same thing you all have been saying in...
So the interior handle is still working, it's the outside handle that is stuck closed. I could remove the door panel and the inside handle with it, but that wouldn't fix the issue I'm having with the outside handle :/
That's good to hear. If it does end up being all from some glass pieces, I'm getting documented proof of that and going back to the collision center to have them cover it.
But, the fact that they have to break the current handle off isn't weird in the first place? Obviously I'll let them do...
