  1. Best mods for track/street combo driving

best track mod would be wide, sticky tires--preferably square setup so you can rotate. Geez, a GT 350 is one of the best cars at the track without any mods.
  2. Tire recommendation for my Mustang GT 2018

if you're on a budget, try Firestone Indy 500's. they're good performance tires (wouldn't recommend frequent rain driving), they last long, quiet, and you can run them on the track if you stay in the Novice class because they're not as grippy as the 200 treadwear track tires.
  3. GT Ride Comfort

I have the '17 GT PP, 20" Niche wheels & 275 35 20's Firestone Indy 500's. My car really hurt my neck on these bumpy Dallas concrete roads. I talked to Steeda and they recommended their rear ProAction dampers and to cut the top pleat off the foam bump stops. PROBLEM SOLVED!! I also track this...
  4. No drill license plate bracket options

Sto n Sho is the way to go. Got it on my front. When crossing low curb n gutter driveway approaches, the edge of the plate will scrape first before the spoiler. You have to go slow but you can hear it scrape. They're like $80us but worth it.
  5. Ride height specs? '17 GT PP

What is the spec'd stock ride height measurement for a '17 GT PP? I looked everywhere and can't find a spec sheet. I need to see if my previous owner lowered the car (I don't think he did, but mine looks just a bit lower than other 'stangs) I believe the correct spec is measured from center of...
  6. GT PP suspension too springy- hurts neck

I understand what you're saying and it makes sense, but the car rides so much better. That's the only change I've made since putting on the Steeda non-adj dampers. Before I shortened the bumps, there was only 5/8" of shiny damper shaft visible so the car only had to compress 5/8" before starting...
  7. GT PP suspension too springy- hurts neck

Found the problem- jounce bumpers, or bumps stops are too long. The car was hammering down on the bump stops and then rebounding without allowing the dampers to damper. I cut off the first pleat (5/8") from advice from Steeda. Made a HUGE improvement. Got new Indy 500's and going to the track...
  8. GT PP suspension too springy- hurts neck

UPDATE on my situation: A Steeda guy called me a few weeks ago and we discussed my problem w/ the stiff & violent rebound even after I installed the Steeda Active (non-adj) rear dampers. We discussed the jounce bumpers. I said I reinstalled the oem bumpers. He said to go to either the Steeda...
  9. Do you think this wheel and color combo looks bad?

I'll say nay to those oem wheels- they just don't have a performance-inspired design.
  10. Another Bouncy S550

STIFFER THAN OEM TRACK PACK SHOCKS???? Hurts my neck just thinking about that!
  11. Another Bouncy S550

I put on the Steeda ProAction dampers just on the rear of my '17 PP per BMac's recommendation to soften up the neck-jarring ride. It helped a little, I guess. I know it might take a few months for the dampers to settle in, but, the ride still needs improvement. Probably should replace the...
  12. GRABBER BLUE S550 MUSTANG Thread

On the track at Texas Motorsport Ranch, SCCA Track Night in America, 4/7/20.
  13. GT PP suspension too springy- hurts neck

I don't know, feels like the whole dam car bounces violently on these Dallas concrete roads!
  14. GT PP suspension too springy- hurts neck

I've heard the PP springs are soft, now you say they are stiff. So which is it-- soft or stiff? BmacIL said it's the shocks that are too stiff and don't handle the rebound, and springs are soft.
  15. GT PP suspension too springy- hurts neck

Thanks. I think I will start w/ planning to do just the shocks/struts. Not really interested in lowering or putting in camber plates just yet. I'm not enough of a track maniac yet to get into lowering & negative camber etc. Just want a better ride. And my track driving will improve if I ever...
  16. Senior input on purchase?

I'm 62 and pretty athletic w/ no real mobility issues except for a stiff lower back and neck spondylosis. I also have a stock 07 Miata. There's nothing lower on 4 wheels than a Miata- ok, maybe a McLaren! I find that I'm having to "re-teach" some of those core muscles how to support me on...
  17. Pay for suspension install or buy tools and do it myself?

I'm thinking about changing out the springs/dampers w/ the Steeda adj "comfort" system myself also. I've got all the tools. My only fear is loosening the rear end so much that it knocks it way out of alignment or screws it up so much a shop has to go in there and reset the sub-frame so it can...
  18. GT PP suspension too springy- hurts neck

I read some posts about changing to the Ford Perf shocks. Not sure it was in response to my observation & specific problem. It just feels like these springs are so stiff that the shocks can't dampen their rebound effectively. I drove a '17 Premium non-track pack GT before I bought mine and...
  19. GT PP suspension too springy- hurts neck

Does anyone think the S550 GT PP suspension is too springy and rough? I have arthritis in my neck and my '17 GT PP is really bumpy and hurts my old neck on the concrete roads here in DFW. I also have an '07 Miata but it rides pretty nice even though it has performance suspension. I feel like...
