If bought at the right price, new Corvettes, with little or no options, are the Best Buy you can find.
I've been ordering them like that, and daily driving them, since 1997.
All stick shifts, because sports cars should not be crippled with garbage torque converters
I have to admit, I am scared to own a new DCT, especially from a domestic brand. But once you drive Porsche pdk. It's addictive.
This is coming from a guy who's been driving manual transmissions daily since the 1980s.
Those numbers are bullshit. Don't believe everything you read. That DCT is going to trickle down to the base V8 Mustangs. Frankly, it's the only car from Ford that would make any sense to me
That's what you get for crippling a sports car, with that garbage torque converter. A torque converter has no place in a performance car.
The 7th Generation Corvette was a huge disappointment, and a disgrace to GM, along with the 6th generation Camaro
These prices are insane, even if you pay invoice. Sorry, at these prices, I'll just buy another Corvette.
Ford needs to just give the base V8 Mustang a DCT option. That makes sense to me as a daily driver
I'm hoping the GT500 and the GT350 have the same base prices, or the GT500 is less.
Considering the development money that went into the GT350, especially that flat plane crank engine, and the track focus of the GT350, there's no reason why the base GT500 can't be less.
Flame away. I don't care...
I think the 2020 C8 is going to make the C5/C6/C7 obsolete.
Especially in the traction department.
The C8's utility and comfort as a true GT car that the OP is looking for remains to be seen.
Can't wait until the car is unveiled in 3 weeks, and real world pricing of both the GT500 and the C8...
Translation: I've never driven a PDK equipped car, and have absolutely no clue about how transmissions work, because I rely on Google and Car Magazines for everything I know.
Roger that.
DCT is the best possible transmission available right now. (it's not an "auto")
The GT500's DCT is the...
I like the Grabber Lime.
I think it fits the character of the car.
Reminds me of the 1994 Kawi ZX-9.
Also makes me think of the Verde colored Lamborghinis.
In your face, with no apologies.
Fk it. If you're gonna be a bear, be a grizzly.
Did you even read what I typed?
Did you realize you can do a clutch dump with a DCT, by pulling both paddles at the same time, just like putting the clutch pedal to the floor?
DCT's are gear driven manual transmissions.
They are not automatics.
Go drive a PDK, and then you'll understand.
I...
Wahhhhhh. Someone says something I don't agree with, or I wrongfully perceive as an attack, so I must retreat to my safe space, and have my babysitter censor them, because public debate and free speech is scary.......
This is exactly what's wrong with society today.
Let me dumb it down for you.
From worst to best.
CVT (automatic)
Torque Converter (automatic)
SMG (gear driven, single clutch, computer operated)
Stickshift (gear driven, single clutch, pedal operated)
DCT (gear driven, dual clutch, computer OR paddle operated)
The guy who's never even driven a world class DCT before (PDK), that doesn't even realize that a DCT actually IS a manual transmission and shares 85% of it's components with a stickshift transmission, calling other people a dumb moron.
That's funny.
The best part of DCT filtering down to entry...
Wow. Another sick burn. Please stop. You're killing me.
Nah. I'll hang out for a bit.
I like the idea of a 4 seat daily driver with a DCT and a TVS2650, and the C8 won't be unveiled for another 3 weeks.
I'm not stuck in any particular "car land" . My first car was a 1966 Mustang and my...
I'm on the planet where Corvettes and Porsches are competing for my money.
My specific location is in the sector with the intelligent people that have money and understand the free market.
You should join us.
The bend over and grab your ankles sector isn't the smart place to be.
That DCT is the only reason I would buy a Mustang.
But, I want to see it offered on the base V8 GT. I can always add a TVS2650 amd long tubes myself.
I'm not paying ADM, and I'm not even sure I'm willing to pay invoice on a GT500.
