  1. FYI 2018 F150 5.0 - TSB 19-2058 excessive oil consumption

My bad. Apparently I need to be a little more attentive to what I’m reading. Thanx
  2. FYI 2018 F150 5.0 - TSB 19-2058 excessive oil consumption

That would be interesting to see Ford’s reactions to a line of gen 3 coyotes failing emissions... lol
  3. FYI 2018 F150 5.0 - TSB 19-2058 excessive oil consumption

So for instance, my car had never seen a track. But I drove it daily to and from work. I got on it maybe a handful of times. I let it warm up every time before I drove it. I actually treated it better than other cars I’ve had. Never once having a problem that required a s/b replaced. Nor did...
  4. FYI 2018 F150 5.0 - TSB 19-2058 excessive oil consumption

Is that pertaining to the truck or...? Also, can you provide me a copy of that? I know for a fact that my car was eating well over that amount before they replaced the short block.
  5. Per Ford (officially) the 2011-2019 F150/Mustang 5.0 “Typewriter Tick” is a normal characteristic

I don’t believe that Ford is replacing blocks because of just a noise but the nature or that noise and what it is causing in some. It has to be damaging
  6. Per Ford (officially) the 2011-2019 F150/Mustang 5.0 “Typewriter Tick” is a normal characteristic

It might be a little different for some of us when it becomes an actual mechanical problem and throws out misfire codes. Overall, I believe that these engine are outstanding. However, one still needs to look at it in a mass production point of view. Not all of them would ever be 100%. Not even...
  7. Per Ford (officially) the 2011-2019 F150/Mustang 5.0 “Typewriter Tick” is a normal characteristic

No. Mine has tolerance issues between the piston and cylinder wall leading to oil consumption and metal in the oil causing the clatter.
  8. Per Ford (officially) the 2011-2019 F150/Mustang 5.0 “Typewriter Tick” is a normal characteristic

I believe it though. If it weren’t for the actual problem with the engine, I would’ve been able to drive away either couple fixes they did that I didn’t even know existed. One of the fixes was in my intake. But, yes. I get it. I just wish I was just a little more fortunate.
  9. Per Ford (officially) the 2011-2019 F150/Mustang 5.0 “Typewriter Tick” is a normal characteristic

Lmao. Sorry. That’s what did on the second block not a week into having it back after I went to go fill it up one morning on my way to work. I drove it directly back to the dealership that morning. Sorry to hear your misfortune.
  10. Per Ford (officially) the 2011-2019 F150/Mustang 5.0 “Typewriter Tick” is a normal characteristic

That’s normal. But not at 15,000 along with 2-1/2 qts missing at an oil change lol
  11. Per Ford (officially) the 2011-2019 F150/Mustang 5.0 “Typewriter Tick” is a normal characteristic

Either way, it’s warranted. They’ll eventually get going again.
  12. Per Ford (officially) the 2011-2019 F150/Mustang 5.0 “Typewriter Tick” is a normal characteristic

After I made this video, I took it to the service department. The motor company told them to inspect the oil. It came out positive for having metal. They then told them to inspect the cylinder bores. They came up with scoring in #3 which was where the noise was coming from. That’s when the motor...
  13. Per Ford (officially) the 2011-2019 F150/Mustang 5.0 “Typewriter Tick” is a normal characteristic

So the engineer at the motor company dispo’d to swap out a short block for no reason? Why would they do that if the noise was normal? That doesn’t make any sense.
  14. Per Ford (officially) the 2011-2019 F150/Mustang 5.0 “Typewriter Tick” is a normal characteristic

And this just reaffirms why I should never argue with anyone who doesn’t understand thermal dynamics and machining. Trolls still attached to momma. Good luck dude
  15. Per Ford (officially) the 2011-2019 F150/Mustang 5.0 “Typewriter Tick” is a normal characteristic

That all depends on what tick they’re talking about I guess. The most common is the pump doing its thing. Then there’s the “controversial” piston slap.
  16. Per Ford (officially) the 2011-2019 F150/Mustang 5.0 “Typewriter Tick” is a normal characteristic

Well if you’d like to drive a nice looking Camaro with what sounds like a rod knock and have everyone stare at you, that’s your decision.
