I was monitoring since new and it would consume about 3/4's of a qt every 1000 miles. Not enough to warrant a claim/engine replacement but enough to be something I had to watch and replace, that was just annoying after a while.

Tired of the oil consumption, the sideways dipstick, the pocket contents ending up under the seat every time I get in or out of the car, scraping on every mild incline even at angles, the insurance, and the depreciation.
No race track near me, and even if so, no...
Mine is a 17 and seems to need about 1/2 qt every 800 or so miles. I keep a close eye on it.
It is disappointing that it consumes oil at all, and that apparently with QC and design improvements the 19's and 20's are immune to these issues... What's a guy with a 17 to do?

11k miles on mine including a few autocross days, no failures bro. Yes it needs a quart every 1200 miles or so, so what? Small price to pay for the VOODOO, which is what it does, and puts you in a hypnotic state between 6-8.2k rpms bro.
You were probably chilling in the 7k rpm range constantly...
