Are you sure? The PUP spec sheets still show Dexos 1 Gen 1 and no SN+ cert. It's also not listed on http://www.gmdexos.com/owner/brands/dexos1/index.html.
Regular PP has both however and I plan on switching to it for my next change.

Nope, check out the spec sheet for the PUP 5w20. It's Dexos 1 certified but not Dexos 1 Gen 2. It's also API SN-RC certified but not API SN Plus. These are listed on the PP 5w20 spec sheet though. I'm not...
Lol that’s exactly what I thought when I got back on after a hiatus of 7 years. Back when Purolator was king. They call them Tearolators now.. You can imagine why.
I'm currently on PUP 5w20 with no tick. But, I'm going to switch over to regular PP 5w20 for the following reasons:
-It’s still full-syn GTL base stock
-It’s SN Plus rated while PUP is not
-It’s Dexos 1 Gen 2 rated while PUP is not

Hm, PUP has lower viscosities at all temps than both M1 EP and Redline. Maybe the thinness of the oil has a more positive effect on engine tick than the additive composition?
FWIW, a number of people who had BBQ tick on M1 EP cured it by switching to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w20.
On a semi-related note, my car is currently at a dealer getting the heated/cooled seats fixed under warranty and I’ve been worried everyday since I dropped it off.. :frown:
If you frequent the BITOG oil forums, you’ll be surprised to find out that the best oil filter you can get right now is the.. Fram Ultra Synthetic. Even the Mobil 1 is inferior nowadays.
