Hi All,
I guess final update.
I ended up getting the repair done. Cost me a pile.
I got the car back and I started noticing problems. The first thing was, the dealership reinstalled my G-Trac brace upside down. Yes, upside down. If anyone is curious, I can attach some pictures of it here...
Update:
I appealed and Ford will not increase what they are offering in assistance to repair the vehicle. They are also not giving me any information about a buyback or anything, no matter how much I ask. Any phone call to my local dealership or customer service ends up with a circular "we'll...
I will keep you updated on this. I don't know what this process is, what it entails, or even if I actually truly qualify for it.
Essentially what happened was when the high repair cost was communicated to me, I stated plainly that it was impossible for me at this point, and I was curious about...
I haven't seen the pieces in the pan, this was the report read to me over the phone.
I can call around local transmission shops.
At this point the transmission is out of the car and ready for work at the dealership, I hope to have some sense of what to do with it early next week.
On a side...
I did not notice the remote start behavior you mention. I rarely if ever remote started. I'd usually start it, sit for 30 seconds, then drive off carefully for the first 5 minutes or so. Figured it was cold and I shouldn't put much load on it.
The deceleration clunk was very noticeable though.
Ford is saying I do qualify for a buyback. What would that look like do you think? They are offering no details at this point, and are saying my service advisor would have to speak to me about it next week.
Now that I deep think this, I did notice a few oddities in my car in the months prior to this, not sure if they are symptoms of the impending failure, but I figure I'd mention them here. Most of this I attributed to just the "uncooked' nature of car:
1. Driving with the windows down in my...
Honestly my technical skillset does not include the capabilities to do that. I'm a great Engineer, but I am no mechanic. It's why I always brought my car to the dealership, let the experts work on it, and give a job to a good American worker. Oh well.
2018 GT Base, 55K Miles, 5.5 years old. (Under 60K powertrain, over calendar by 6 months).
Car worked great one day, the next I'm leaving my house, and it won't shift past 2nd gear, rapidly decelerates, shows wrench on display. I figure it's pretty bad, so I carefully limp the car home...
Well, I am noobish/not knowledgeable. I don't know what camber I am running. I have adjustable castor/camber plates that were necessary in getting the alignment set after the install. I think I really need to just take this to a real performance shop (I installed this all with my friend...
Thanks! I'll look into these, do they allow adjustable ride height? The reason I ask is that I am getting a little bit of rubbing with the drop from the Steeda springs (but I do have 19x10, +40 offset 275/40/19 square). I've heard of the B6's, time to go find some.
Is the Peddars Kit not good? I've been eyeballing it as well. I could certainly "spring" for something a bit more expensive if it's really worth it. I'm not looking to slam the car more than an 1" to 1.25", I just want a nice upgrade from the floaty feeling my base GT has with the Steeda...
I hear a dull sorta whine/squeal sound, depending on the camber of the road. I can kinda steer out of it. I took it to the dealership, I don't think they did much but just replied "you're lowered, it's normal rubbing, don't worry about it." I really wasn't satisfied with this response.
When...
Sorry to resurrect an older thread..
I am running 275/40/19s on my lowered 2018 Base GT. I have Steeda Progressive springs (555-8210) with the LMR SVE S350 wheels (19x10, +40mm offset), and adjustable camber plates. I have quite a bit of rubbing. I keep removing the wheels to see where it's...
I have a used set of 2018 GT Non-PP Stock Wheels and Tires. The combo has about 10K miles on them, and have never been curbed. Tires are the Pirelli P-Zero Nero, 235/50ZR18 and have lots of tread life left. I've never done burn outs with these.
Included are the wheels, center caps, TPS...
