  1. Honey Badger's Completely Off-the-Rails Race Car Build and Track Adventure Thread

Does that AP front caliper let you run a 18 inch wheel?
  2. PittRace HPDE Tips?

Walk the track if you can, there are many weird on/off-camber sections that you'll only see on a walk that will help you find grip. Since Pittrace has a few long straights that lead to hard braking zones, this is a great track to learn how and when to brake hard. As the 350 has fabulous...
  3. High Mileage Gt350 - Keep or Sell

Buy another GT350 with lower mileage and tack on a warranty onto that. If you're looking for a similar, but cheaper experience. Look into an E92 M3 with proper suspension mods and exhaust. Similar to the GT350, those cars will eventually be on the auction block, moreso nicer ones. I'm afraid...
  4. Pad for occasional track use?

I did the GLCO R12/R10 for a season, they worked pretty well. I'm actually running the PowerStop Track Day Spec pads on the front, I'm not sure how I feel about them, I've only done a weekend at NCM and about to do another weekend on NCM. Stock pads do well on stock tires, but when you switch...
  5. Let's talk GT350 oil

If you buy Motorcraft by the case from O'reilly, they can give you a discount that's cheaper than any online option. At least that was in my case (ha) with two separate O'reilly locations. I've been using Motorcraft for 40k+ miles and with 40+ track hours on the engine, oil analysis is still...
  6. Honey Badger's Completely Off-the-Rails Race Car Build and Track Adventure Thread

This thread constantly pushes me in and out of supporting this platform. 😢 Regardless, thank you for your contribution to this wonderful car. I'm excited to see what path you take with this engine!
  7. Honey Badger's Completely Off-the-Rails Race Car Build and Track Adventure Thread

I talked with the Ford Performance guys last year at PRI and they mentioned issues with the GT4 cars running stiffer engine mounts, bolts coming loose, breaking stuff, etc. I've cracked my flex pipe at Nelson Ledges with stock motor mounts, but flex pipe failure could be numerous things (too...
  8. Ohio Brake Master Cylinder - GT

    Bump, still have this!
  9. Mixing tires: PS4S front, SC2 rear?

Mixing tires is only common in drifting and in some levels of motorsports where the driver/team has identified a different set of tires in the rear and front to be beneficial. In your case, considering the performance nature of your driving, the same tires all around is beneficial. You have...
  10. Need to buy some upgrades, but what to get?

Have you sat in Miata with the floor pan dropped? I've seen some big guys fit in those, hard to find one with the floor pan modified, although the labor itself isn't too bad.
  11. Need to buy some upgrades, but what to get?

It sounds like your next natural progression is a truck, trailer and a racecar. I'm not a professional racecar driver, but the best thing I've done to improve my driving was to put away the GT350 and do some seat time in a Miata. There's just something about lack of horsepower that really...
  12. Oil pan bolts backing out...?

Actually I do believe it. Talking to the guys from Ford Performance at PRI last weekend, the GT350 produces oddball vibrations due to the FPC. The GT4 guys had numerous things come loose and break when they were running stiffer than OEM engine mounts. A procharger can mess with the harmonics of...
  13. What are some common pain points on cars that see track duty?

I'm at 40k miles and have somewhere around 20+ track days on the 2017. I've lost: A/C Compressor (Don't run A/C on track) 2nd and 5th gear (Now at Ford) Driver side flex pipe Front splitter Rear clunk (Looking into it) Many brakes pads, tires, oil changes. I'm on the fence about selling, as...
  14. Let's talk trailers...anyone with a custom ATC/inTech?

I was hoping you'd show us how to make a removable diffuser with a hitch for towing tires...
  15. How often do you change oil if you track your car

Oil changes after every track weekend (two track days), oil analysis is good, could go longer...maybe one or two track days? I've already done two transmission and diff changes with 3-4 seasons of track driving. Unfortunately my TR3160 has just killed itself, perhaps a shorter interval is needed?
  16. Anybody do their own alignments?

I also do my own string alignments for track work on the GT350 and my other cars. Most shops (even performance shops) don't know how to do a proper alignment or have the care/patience to finely align every aspect of the car properly. I finally caved in after a shop set the rear camber of Miata...
  17. GT 350 with the black top option

I'd leave it, my roof has tons of rock chips that are visible. You could get it corrected if you can find out from the prior owner where the work was done or pay for a new film. In some cases that peeling can be corrected, but typically not.
  18. My experience shopping for a sports car in this segment (and why I'm leaning GT350)

I disagree, but considering you own both cars, your word will hold more weight. I drove a GT with a performance pack and I consider that to be 70% of the GT350 experience with the right tires. Regardless of the choice the OP makes, out of all the ones listed - you're not making a wrong choice.
  19. My experience shopping for a sports car in this segment (and why I'm leaning GT350)

I'd get the Lotus. Not many cars feel like a Lotus. I love my GT350, but you can get pretty close to the experience with a GT Mustang or Mach 1. Lotus always felt like a Lotus. Miata is great to, I daily an NB myself. The issue with buying horsepower is that you get used to horsepower, you don't...
