I've used a Big Boi Buddy and found it not enough to dry the car completely in an acceptable time. I now use it to get to the crevices that are difficult to reach and finish with a Bowden's towel and drying aid.
As DFB5.0 says we have all adapted to what works for us.
I initially fitted Continental 6's when the Michelin 4s's were too wide on the Velgen VMB9 rims that I had.
After 30,000k I've switched back to Michelins. The Conti's on the rear axle were not good in my experience. (especially in the wet). So far the Michelins seem the better option. (only 2000k)
I had 295 Michelins fitted to the rims and the tread was outside the bodywork.
I don't think machining will happen. I have just fitted new 285 Michelins so won't be doing anything for a couple of years.
Offset for the Velgens is correct on paper. I have thought of getting the back of the hub machined to set the wheel further in but would need someone who could convince me that it would work.
I agree with you . I've checked everything I can think of but the fact is Michelin 295/35/20 tyres will not fit under my bodywork. The Continental 295's were a very tight fit but they are terrible tyres on the rear of my Mustang . I could break traction and fish-tail in a straight line with...
Thanks for the replies.
When I replaced the Continental 295/35 20's with Michelins in the rear I could only fit 285/35 's because of the more square Michelin profile. With the offset of the Velgen VMB9's it has left a bit of a gap in the rear so as I was fitting the Seeda Stop the Hop kit I was...
Replaced Continental ContiSport Contacts with Michelin MPS4S (long story)
The Continentals were diabolical in the rear in the wet .
Michelins have a much better 'feel' .
My Steeda 'Stop the Hop" parts are quarantined on the wharves in Brisbane.
Thanks Steve and Troy. I wasn't happy but it has given me motivation to do some of the other mods that I have been neglecting. Just got to find my old list.
Following an old truck through roadworks yesterday and a large rock hit the windscreen upper driver side corner. Bit of a star fracture but after driving over crappy Qld roads the fracture now extends down to the middle of the screen and about 12 inches across my line of vision.
Don't have free...
I use the Big Boi Buddi dryer , but usually for drying around trim and wheels. I find it takes too long for large areas like bonnet and still leaves some water marks. (easier to dry with a good microfibre cloth)
Hi Peter
I have been lurking but I've been a bit busy at work so really haven't had much to add.
My son Adam (mechanic) did the work for me (I was at work ). He reckons it was fairly difficult and there was an issue with adding the fluid as the fill tube had a soft metal cap crimped to it. And...
Added 1250 ml of Auto Trans Fluid to my gearbox. I've been experiencing some rough shifts and had read that some 2018 cars had low levels of fluid.
Noticeable improvement in shift quality . I plan to drive it for a few more days then check the level again.
Hi Troy
It's Suntek PPF and System X Diamond Ceramic . From my research the System X produces a high gloss finish . They applied the System X over the PPF and did the wheels too. I got 35% window tint as well. (I was offered 18% but prefer to stay legal).
Hi Peter
At this stage the rims and tyres are excess to my needs.
Even at this price I have had 4 sales not work out. The cost of moving them around plus the chance of damage in transit mean that I need local interest.
